Hello fellow Guides, I hope you are all doing well! Today, I want to share a meaningful experience that highlights how our small contributions as Local Guides can make a massive difference in real life, especially as we celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026.
The day before yesterday, I visited a relative who was admitted to the Barishal Divisional Police Hospital. While navigating the facility, I was incredibly heartened to see their excellent inclusive infrastructure. Right at the entrance, there is a wide, smoothly designed wheelchair ramp that allows hassle-free entry for patients with limited mobility. Moving further inside, I noticed a spacious, modern elevator perfectly accommodating wheelchair users to easily move between floors. As a passionate Local Guide, I knew this crucial information needed to be on the map. I immediately took photos (1, 2) of the ramp and elevator to review their accessibility status on Google Maps.
I am proud to be part of a community that turns awareness into real action. I am not alone in this journey our incredible Local Guides community has been actively celebrating GAAD 2026 in inspiring ways across the globe. That really encourages me.
