Our Manali journey continues!

After exploring different beautiful places in Manali, it was finally time for one of the most exciting days of our trip — Rohtang Pass & Atal Tunnel! 
Early Morning Journey to Rohtang Pass
We started our journey early Sunday morning from our hotel. The weather was beautiful, the mountains looked amazing and thankfully, there was very little traffic on the road.
The journey itself was beautiful. We saw many scenic views along the way and stopped at a roadside place for the mandatory mountain Maggi + Bread Omelette! 
From our hotel, Rohtang Pass was around 64 km away and we finally reached there at around 12:00 PM.
Rohtang Pass – Snow, Fun & Memories
The moment we reached Rohtang Pass and saw the snow, we were super excited! 
We enjoyed different snow activities, clicked lots of pictures and created some really beautiful memories together.
There were professional photographers available at Rohtang Pass who clicked pictures for tourists. We also got some pictures clicked, and the charge was around ₹40 per photo.
For people interested in snow activities, shoes, suits and other equipment are also available on rent.
Rohtang Pass is located at an altitude of approximately 3,978 metres (13,051 feet) above sea level, so some people may feel shortness of breath or discomfort due to the altitude. It’s better to take it slow and enjoy the experience comfortably.
Yak Ride
We also enjoyed a Yak ride, which cost around ₹200 per person.
It was a fun experience and gave us some memorable pictures with the snowy mountains in the background.
After spending quality time at Rohtang Pass and clicking lots of pictures with my wife, we started our journey back towards the hotel.
Atal Tunnel
On our way back, we travelled through the famous Atal Tunnel.
The Atal Tunnel is approximately 9.02 km (5.6 miles) long.
The road was smooth, clean and well-maintained, and there is no separate entry fee for travelling through the tunnel.
After crossing the tunnel, we stopped for a few minutes and clicked some pictures before continuing our journey.
One Thing That Needs Improvement
There was one thing that really disappointed us—the washroom facility was not properly maintained and cleanliness was a major concern.
I personally feel that the concerned authorities should pay more attention to the cleanliness and maintenance of public washrooms. Clean washrooms are especially important for tourists travelling with families, children and senior citizens.
Back to the Hotel
After crossing Atal Tunnel, we continued our journey through the beautiful mountain roads and finally reached our hotel at around 5:00 PM.
The total taxi cost for our Manali sightseeing and Rohtang Pass journey was around ₹5,000.
Our taxi driver was also very polite and cooperative, which made the journey more comfortable. 
Our Overall Manali Trip Cost – 2 People
Since I have shared my Manali journey in Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3, I thought it would be useful to share our approximate overall budget as well.
Total Cost: Around ₹20,000 for 2 People
Hotel: ~₹6,000
Bus fare (both routes): ~₹2,700
Local cab + sightseeing + Rohtang Pass: ~₹5,000
Food + activities + photography + other expenses: Remaining amount
Total overall spending: Approximately ₹20,000 for two people.
This was our approximate personal spending, so the cost can vary depending on your hotel, travel dates, food, activities and transportation choices.
For us, it was definitely ₹20,000 well spent!
Final Thoughts
Looking back at our complete Manali Journey – Part 1 → Part 2 → Part 3, we experienced so many beautiful moments.
From starting our journey from Noida, reaching Manali, exploring the beautiful places, enjoying mountain roads and roadside Maggi, experiencing snow at Rohtang Pass, enjoying the Yak ride, clicking pictures together and travelling through Atal Tunnel—it was truly an unforgettable experience.
Sometimes the destination is beautiful, but the journey becomes the real memory.
