Make the map a bit more sustainable.With some L.O.V.E. !

Google maps is great to show all type of locations all over the world…

Google maps is also great at showing you a rating of how much people actually like it by 1-5 :star:

BUT Google maps is unfortunately pretty useless, if you want to find out the most sustainable locations. Let it be vegan restaurants, small & local grocery stores, eco-fashion, etc… If you consider yourself as a “LOHAS” for example and live a Lifestyle-Of-Health-And-Sustainablity you need many other maps to find what you’re looking for. But that doesn’t have to be…

So what did I do, and what can YOU do now?

It’s quite simple: to better understand how sustainable a location is, i broke the huge topic of ”sustainability” or “ecology” down to a simple formula: L.O.V.E.! This acronym stands for LOCAL, ORGANIC, VEGAN & ECO.

And each of the 4 categories gets (similar to the :star:) PLANETS :earth_africa: instead (but from 0 to 5 - because ZERO sustainable places exist unfortunately) that indicate how much this category is fulfilled. In every one of my recent reviews (mainly for restaurants) I add the rating e.g. like the one below:

‘L.O.V.E. Earth’ Sustainability Score (0-5 Earths): (17/20)
LOCAL: :earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas::earth_africa::white_circle:
ORGANIC: :earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas:
VEGAN: :earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas:
ECOLOGICAL: :earth_americas::earth_africa::earth_americas::white_circle::white_circle:
(this sustainability rating is separate from the google maps review, see more: l-o-v-e.earth)

This works for Restaurants, Cafes, Bars, Grocery Stores, Supermarkets, Clothing Shops, etc… - pretty much all places where you consum and shop. (Yes, clothes or home deco can of course also be ‘vegan’… :wink: ). It is actually even used on a product level for the “L.O.V.E. Price Checker App” to compare the sustainability & prices for different products…

With this L.O.V.E. Rating you can get a quick overview - and even decide according to your preferences (e.g. if organic or vegan would not be important for you).

So what’s behind each category: (there’s actually a more detailed list behind each category with several questions that indicate the amount of planets to be given)

To make it shorter - here’s something visual for you:

Check out my blog L.O.V.E. Earth for more details, all rated locations and feel free to comment or send me a message! I would love to hear any feedback from your side! :blush:

PS: if you are interested in using my L.O.V.E. scheme, please get in touch with me. I am happy if it will be adopted by more people all around the world. But to make sure we have the same understanding of each category and the :earth_americas: given, I would have to share you the detailed questions and scheme - this way it will be benefitial for everyone all around the world as it always means the same!
