Pune is a city of museums.
These range from Tribal Art to Aerospace and history to Sports.
Last weekend I visited the Mahatma Phule Museum with 10 other local guides.
This museum was founded in 1875 and features historical objects such as handicrafts, weapons & taxidermy.
The museum is located in a building from the 19th century yet looks amazing.
It has an accessible entrance.
They also have an open newspaper reading area.
So senior citizens are seen relaxing in the shadow of the trees.
The museum has lavish parking for 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers.
The parking is free.
They also have an accessible elevator and washrooms.
The street outside the museum also has sidewalk footpaths lined with tactile paths - easing the navigation for the visually impaired.
I also spotted an old-style letter box.
I pride as the few who use the postal service to send out stickers and badges to local guides all over India.
The museum hosted rare items not seen elsewhere in India.
From dolls made from fabric to idols made in ivory, the collection was impressive.
Another gallery specialized in brass items, and China-clay pottery.
Items made from bamboo, besides samples of minerals and shiny rocks, were also on display.
A lot of insect species, leather hides, and such stuff were on display.
One of their specialties was stuff animals called Taxidermy.
India is rich in history that predates most nations that exist today.
Weapons and related warfare items were on display in the Museum.
