I noticed I just lost about 20k points. But it still shows all of my contributions correctly. And I’m still getting some recent road edits approved as I type this. Is there an issue with contributions right now? I have been doing a lot of road edits recently because I’ve had plenty of free time the last two months. I don’t know if I’ve been contributing too much, too frequently and it triggered some alarms? Or if there is some system issue that deducted points. As per usual, there’s no explanation to the point loss that I received. It’s odd that it’s exactly 20,000 points.
Hey everyone.
I have been a local guide for a number of years and having achieved level 9, was on my way to level 10. But this week, Google has decided to remove 20,000 points. No communication from Google. As far as I can tell, no reported abuse or missposting. Before I delete the account entirely, can anyone tell me why this might be and if there is precedence for mistakes to have been made?

@Tweebs less than an hour ago I saw another post here with exactly the same issue (also -20,000 points): Am I being retired? For me, everything looks fine (so far).

Hi @Tweebs , I’m sorry about your issue, that seems to be a technical glitch.
In fact by checking your profile I can see that your photos and videos are not visible, for a total amount of 18095 points.
However the photos attached to the reviews are visible, so it can only be a technical glitch on Google side.
This kind of glitch is usually fixed in a short time (hours or a few days) but for an additional confirmation I am tagging here a Google Moderator, @AngieYC for escalating the problem to the relevant team.

A similar issue has been reported here a few minutes ago.
In that case the issue seems to be with the photos.
Unfortunately, as your account is locked, I can’t check if your situation is similar, however it seems to be like that, because the amount of your points related to your photos+ videos is 19743, very close to the 20k mentioned by you.
Can you kindly check, or unlock the profile for us to check what is publicly visible?

Hi @ErmesT thanks for tagging someone who can investigate this issue. I hope the points will come back, and even more importantly, that it can be found out what caused this issue: too much activity in a short time, other things that triggered this issue, … Or is it something else that is causing this issue? I think we should be informed for avoiding such hickups. Thanks a lot in advance.

Why would I lose 35,000 Local Guide points and one Guide Level overnight? Only thing I’ve done is get a new phone. I appreciate any assistance.

Can you kindly tell us with which kind of contributions you lost the points?
I am asking because your points are coherent with the amount of contributions that we see in your profile.
In the other posts mentioned by @WilfriedB there was a clear difference between what visible in the profile and the points, but on your case I don’t see any difference.
Can you kindly add some details?

Views didn’t change and I didn’t purge photos. Has anyone else seen something like this?

That kind of glitch, @KattyGeltmeyer , is normally on fact just a glitch on the software.
Google is in no way penalising users that are [too much] active, otherwise I will be the first to be penalised, with more than 15 thousand points earned in the last six days.
However, as the account is locked, we don’t have the ability to see if there is something incongruous in the profile.

Yes, in the Top100 you can see my points were over 23,000. And are down to 17,000. I have no idea why.

Das beklagen zur Zeit verschiedene LG an anderer Stelle hier in Connect. Dort geht es um 20000 Punkte bei zweien. Schau Mal unter Anleitungen, ich hoffe es klärt sich für alle

Betreff, As of two days ago I had 45,664 points and was a Local Guide 8. Today after making some contributions I checked my profile and found that I only had 10,738 points and am a Local Guide 7. Somewhere 34,926 points disappeared. It can be seen that I also have 1.3 million views on photos and had received an email to that extent this AM. Only thought I have is I recently (within this week) replaced my four year old S10e with a new Pixel 8. I don’t know if that could be the issue. Thx, appreciate your reply.

So, I’m still adding some missing roads and just found sections of main roads that are gone now. I guess something bigger is going on maybe?
