Local Guides profile suspend

Hello, My Local Guide profile was suspended for an unknown reason (my Local Guide points and badge were removed). I reported this to the support team and they reinstated it. The strangest part is that my profile is reinstated and then 4-5 days later it is suspended again, and so I write to the support team again and they reinstate it. This continues like this. But no one tells me why. Can you help me with this? Why is my profile suspended again after being reinstated even though I have not taken any action?

Hello @X3yal,

I can see your profile, so everything looks fine now. If your profile were suspended, you wouldn’t be able to post here. Your post itself confirms that your profile is not in the suspended category.

Keep contributing and sharing your stories here on Connect—looking forward to seeing more from you

Hi @X3yal
Do you mind to kindly share the link to your profile in Google Maps?
This could help us to give you an answer, other than a generic one about profile suspensions

@SharmaK As I said, it takes 4-5 days. If you check again after 4-5 days, I won’t have the local guide badge.

Chiming in here!

Hi @X3yal, We’ve reviewed the Google Maps account linked to your Local Guides Connect profile and found no issues. You should have access to both, as your Local Guides badge is visible on Google Maps, and you hold a Level 7 badge here on Connect.

@AngieYC it takes 4-5 days. If you check again after 4-5 days, I won’t have the local guide badge.

Hi @X3yal,

The badge on your Google Maps profile is visible publicly, see image below.

If this is not the badge you are referring to, please let me know which one you are having an issue with. Meanwhile, I will keep an eye on your profile for the next week.

@AngieYC I mean this badge and my points, it would be great if you would check my profile next week too. Because I can’t come in and write here when I’m blocked.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @AngieYC
Like @AngieYC I can see that you are a Local Guide.
However, as your profile is private, we can’t see if some of your contribution is against the policies and can trigger the filter.
Or maybe it’s just an issue on your App. When this happens, have you tried to check your profile also on desktop?

For some tip about your contributions we need to see them, but of course keeping the account private is permitted and absolutely fine.

@ErmesT Here, I made my profile public so you can take a look. I don’t think there’s a problem with my profile, I don’t write reviews for places I haven’t been to. The others do too.

Thanks for unlocking your profile, @X3yal

This could be. However, 26 of your reviews and 2 of your ratings are hidden by Google Maps, and the same happens to 193 of your media (photos + videos

Please keep in mind that a reviews and the attached medias are considered as a single contribution, and if one of the elements of a review (text of photos) is found to be against the policies, the whole contribution is made private.
Of course I cannot comment on what is hidden (I can’t see them) but I think that a check should be helpful. Of course the filter cam makes a mistake, but I believe that fixing them may help to keep your account safe.

Regarding what I can see, there are several violations in your photos:

  • Duplicates - Same photo posted more than ones in the same place
  • Redundancy - Very similar photos posted on the same place
  • Duplicates across Location - Same photo posted in more than one place. WARNING: the penalization for this violation is the ban from the Local Guides Program
  • Copyright and original contents: Several of the photos you used are available on the web. Sourcing photos not taken by us can end in a permanent ban

A reading for you to go in deep with some of the topics mentioned above:

My suggestion is to remove all the duplicates, redundant and not original medias ASAP.
After that you can go through your reviews, e.g. by removing the medias and/or editing the text to see if the reviews are re-published.
To check hidden photos and reviews you should use a different account (e.g. the app of a friend) and to compare your profile with what is publicly visible.

After the check, and the clean-up, you can eventually appeal to have your contributions publicly visible again.

@ErmesT Thank you for your suggestions. But there is one problem. Deleting the images once does not delete them, you have to do it several times to get them deleted. I don’t know why this is. It’s the same on both the web and mobile.

Well, not really, @X3yal , you have simply to wait. The images are stored in multiple servers, and the synchronization may takes a bit of time

@ErmesT Is it enough if I delete it once?

I only ever delete once @X3yal. Usually, when I refresh the page, they appear to be gone.

I can confirm what @ErmesT and @tony_b said: A single delete is enough, but it can take a day until all servers are updated.

But I also press Ctrl-R(Refresh) frequently after submitting a delete or uploading photos, when using the desktop browser. Closing and re-opening the mobile app might help too.

@AngieYC Please check my profile, my points have already been deleted. For some reason I can still post here. I won’t be able to post for a while, it will log out automatically.

@ErmesT I followed the instructions you gave me, and deleted some of the comments and pictures.

Hi @X3yal,

We will reach out to you privately sharing the next steps on what you can do.

@AngieYC I received a message and answered all the necessary details. I hope it will help my profile to be active forever. Do I need to send an appeal again?
