Svyato-Troyitsʹkyy Ioninsʹkyy Monastyr Ukrayinsʹkoyi Pravoslavnoyi Tserkvy (The Holy Trinity Ioninsky Monastery), Kyiv, Ukraine

The Holy Trinity Ioninsky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a male Orthodox monastery located in Kyiv, Ukraine. It is located in the historical part of Kyiv, in the Zvirynets district. The monastery was founded in 1866 by the Greek Ionian Order, and was named after the Holy Trinity. The monastery was closed during the Soviet era, but was reopened in 1992.The monastery complex includes a cathedral, a bell tower, a refectory, and a number of other buildings. The cathedral is the largest building in the complex, and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The bell tower is 53 meters tall, and is one of the tallest buildings in Kyiv. The refectory is a large hall where monks and guests can eat together.

The Holy Trinity Ioninsky Monastery is a beautiful and historic site that is worth a visit if you are in Kyiv.

On March of 2023 I had a trip with my family to Delhi for a 10 day visit from March 10th till 21th … But I uploaded the photo to Google maps few months later… And among other photos this one got the most views. It’s the first time I am taking part in album of star photos.

AIIMS Central Lawn, New Delhi

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is one of the oldest and finest hospital in India. Hospital handles crowd from all over the India. This photo is generating more than 4k views a day and I clicked it with my ordinary realme 7 device. The hospital has expanded over time and become quite big so constant mapping is needed . Right direction and exact location is important to reach the desired place for the patients. I mapped, corrected some places and added this star photo as well during my visit in October 2022. I also added many balanced and well shot photos too but this one turned out to be my star photo. By the way this central park is very iconic.

Great Mosque Of Xi’an, Lianhu District, Xi’an, China.

Vue sur la ville d’Auxerre et la rivière de l’Yonne - Auxerre - France
Cette photo est devenue ma photo vedette au fil du temps. Je l’avais initialement ajoutée sous l’épingle de l’Abbaye Saint-Germain d’Auxerre. À ma surprise, Google l’a déplacée sous l’épingle Auxerre sans mon intervention. Elle met en lumière les éléments qui font d’Auxerre une ville si particulière, située dans la célèbre région de Bourgogne, mondialement reconnue pour ses vins et sa gastronomie. L’image met en valeur l’ancienne Abbaye Saint-Germain et la passerelle enjambant l’Yonne, reliant la ville haute à la ville basse. Cette rivière, qui a donné son nom au département, fait d’Auxerre sa ville principale avant de se jeter dans la Seine en direction de Paris.
Ce lieu est chargé d’histoire : c’est d’ici que partaient jadis les bateaux transportant des barriques de vin de Bourgogne vers la capitale française. Chaque année en mai, les quais de l’Yonne à Auxerre s’animent lors de l’événement « Fleurs de Vigne ». Les visiteurs peuvent y déguster des vins locaux en achetant un verre décoré, spécifique au millésime, qui donne accès aux stands des vignerons présentant leur production. La journée se clôture par une reconstitution symbolique : le chargement d’une barrique sur un bateau pour un départ fictif vers Paris.

Pink Garlic Indian Restaurant, Taunton, United Kingdom
This was one of the first images I uploaded for Google Maps after I joined 11th January 2020. I took the majority of my initial photos when I was out walking - usually with my dog, a small Cavachon, called Bertie. I took this with the iPhone 10 Pro Max. He has gotten so used to me stopping to take pictures he just sits and waits patiently for me to finish! I find restaurant/food provider images often do better than most of the other pictures I take.

This is not the best photo I have taken. This has now been replaced as the featured picture after 3 years. I was expecting the photo with the next highest number of views, Argos, to surpass my star - then after the Google count reconfiguration, it closed! Since December 2024, I have seen a 20% increase in the weekly viewing figures. I initially thought this was a Christmas thing, but the increase in activity has been maintained - with the odd 5 days of inactivity thrown in. I also see that most of my images are getting views from the first day they are posted. I’m not suggesting that things are now fixed. However over the last four months I have felt reasons to be optimistic again. Looking through April I can see that a number of my top pictures have increased their viewing figures several times.

I find that images of the food I have from takeaways does very well very quickly then the performance often flattens out. This is because these images appear in the ‘Explore’ tab

In April 2024, I took an updated day shot of the restaurant façade. After 8 months this had been viewed 20,896 times. At the same time the updated night picture, from October 2023, appears to have stalled. It will be interesting to see whether the count keeps increasing for the newer picture. In the last three months the count has increased from 20,896 to 27,578. This is a change of 6,682 which is an increase of 32%. It will be interesting to see if this level of increase is maintained and or seen any where else.

I took this photo of the Cupnoodles Museum Yokohama, in October 2022 using iPhone 13 Pro. I think the other side of the building is more visually appealing, and I have a better photo of that side as well. However, the Google algorithm chose this photo as the main photo for the museum. I believe this is because this side of the building is more public and easier to see from the metro. I have been watching as my photo of this Museum overtakes my previous star photo. My previous star photo’s views have been stagnant for a while now, probably because it is no longer the main photo for that restaurant.

History behind this pic:
Once upon a time there was this choir (in which I’ve been singing for 8 years) and in 2023 we were given a heroic mission: to spread classical music among High School (Prepa) students of UNAM. Here in MX classical music is not quite famous nor popular among young students, so for us this was a challenge.

I took this picture on the very first show of this “tour” when I arrived to the auditorium and the last details were being prepared. Prepa 5 turned out to be a nice place with a lot of facilities for students.

I was lucky to be able to photograph the university building with an interesting angle from a running bus. I thought this was not my best photo. By any chance do you remember this choir ? Well… we did it again! hahaha this time we were invited to sing in a concert at Pepsi Center, which is located right under Mexico City’s biggest business center, the World Trade Center. Therefore, I came across this huge lovely fountain on my way to the concert venue.
