La Torre dels Burots, es troba al coll de Panissars, la més antiga frontera del Pirineu, el seu nom fa referència a la seva funció de cobrament d’impostos. Els burots eren els funcionaris que, durant el segle XIX i part del XX s’encarregaven de cobrar els drets de pas de determinats articles, en general queviures.
Actualment la porta està tancada per evitar actes vandàlics. A l’interior hi ha una gran xemeneia.

Nowadays, is this tower closed, or there is a possibility to visit it? Is it considered to be a touristic attraction?
Is this tower located somewhere on the road between Perpignan and Girona? I lived in Perpignan for several years and I used to go very often to Spain, but never came across this tower! I guess, I have to re-visit this region, as soon as possible.
