Hi, fellow Local Guides!
I’m so excited to finally share my “Kuala Lumpur Local Heroines”* l*ist with you all. Putting this together has been such an inspiring journey for me.
Malaysia is full of incredible women—from the unsung heroes who helped build our Parliament to the modern entrepreneurs who are completely reshaping our city’s fashion, wellness, and café scenes. These women aren’t just running businesses; they’re building communities and paving the way for others with so much grace and grit.
As a Local Guide, I love exploring the hidden gems of KL, and documenting these spots on Google Maps has always been a passion of mine. I set a goal to revisit as many as I could for this challenge, and I’m so happy I managed to get out there and capture some photos at three of my absolute favorites: Naelofar, A-Saloon, and Blink.
A solo visit to these spots—celebrating the true local heroines of Kuala Lumpur!
Seeing these places in person reminded me how much heart goes into everything these women do. It’s not just about the product or the service; it’s about the story of resilience and innovation behind every front door.

In my list, I’ve added a few notes about the women behind these spaces—whether it’s the founders, the leaders, or the history that makes these spots so special. From wellness studios to national heritage, it’s amazing to see how women are leaving such a unique mark on KL’s cultural landscape.
I’d love to hear from you!
I encourage you all to join the challenge—your lists must be created on Maps and shared on the thread ‘Challenge: Create a “Local Heroines” list on Google Maps to win a Connect badge’ by March 31, 2026.
Don’t forget to check out the other challenge created by @Globe_trotter_Ish —I encourage you to participate in that as well !
@Julie_A , Thank you so much for this initiative; it’s been a wonderful way to shine a light on these inspiring changemakers. Also, huge congratulations to @FalguniP @Erna_LaBeau and @Globe_trotter_Ish for the amazing work and contributions!
