Khor Fakkan – a beautiful beach in United Arab Emirates. The beach is frequented by families all through the year and it is difficult to get a parking spot because of the rush.
The meaning of Khor Fakkan is “Creek of Two Jaws”.
It is a city and EXCLAVE of The Emirate of Sharjah. Well, I had to search for the meaning of exclave and found out than an exclave is a portion of a state or territory geographically separated from the main part by surrounding alien territory – Khor Fakkan belongs to Sharjah but it is separated from Sharjah by a land that belongs to Fujairah. Meaning, to reach there while travelling through Sharjah, we have to cross Fujairah, which is another Emirate of UAE.
The city of Khor Fakkan and the city of Sharjah are on two sides of UAE - check on the map - Khor Fakkan faces the Gulf of Oman whereas Sharjah faces the Arabian Gulf waters.
But be careful when you plan to go there. We went last week and it was very hot and humid, almost to a suffocating level. The best time is from November to April in Khor Fakkan when it is sunny and warm during the day; the evenings are cool and have low humidity. Daytime temperatures range from 18 to 30 °C (64 to 86 °F).
The climate warms from May to September with the high temperature at noon in July and August reaching 40 °C (104 °F). The nights too are warm, with the temperature reaching 36 °C (97 °F), with high humidity. The high humidity is more worrisome and makes you uncomfortable.
I had written another piece here in LC Connect about the 5 new tunnels that have been inaugurated recently on the way to Khor Fakkan when we go by drive- here is the link
Wow…when I typed marcop - there were 8 or 9 marcop/marcoP - then I remembered a tip where someone has mentioned to keep a track by the face with the name. Learned something new today. Thank you everyone.
Heard there is Bull Fight in Khor Fakkan from a friend. We will try to find out more about it and go another time.
The pictures are with my mobile - hence clarity is not that great. Actually, I did not think I would be able to get the moon in my shot. But it came

@TravellerG Thank you so much for your inputs. Actually, all my pictures are from my mobile camera, not the usual cameras like Canon etc. Kathakali is our Kerala dance form, nice that you posted it. What is the benefit of adding a friend on this platform?
Thanks for sharing @Indira_IllathuVala ! The UAE has always been a place I wanted to visit, so I enjoyed seeing a post that focused on something aside from Dubai.
I’m just letting you know that I have relabelled your post to Travel as it fits better here. For more information about the Local Stories topic and what goes there, feel free to visit Welcome to the Local Stories board.
“…all my pictures are from my mobile camera…” - If you kindly attend the following points, you can surely take much better Photos.
a. Keep the LENS of the Camera Clean
b. Keep the mobile, without SHAKE, while clicking the photo.
c. Touch the touch screen of the mobile, using your finger, on the object to get the best focus & click.
d. For night shots, use a stand - this will give best result.
Your Question: (the answer is little technical) - for you, the simple way is not to use this as there is no major benefit, at this stage.
