Hi friend!! ta few days ago we got together with my brothers and made some KFC style fried chicken. We took advantage of this quarantine to learn and experiment with new recipes. We love this recipe because we like to savor that crispy crust combined with that spicy fragrance and add a little bit of chili pepper to the chicken along the way
The preparation is simple, it does not take more than 30 minutes when you have the chicken cooked and marinated, but you also have to have some very important details so that it comes out very tasty.
But first let’s start with the ingredients:
Essentials: chicken cut into pieces, oil, flour, salt, mustard
Spices: oregano, thyme, ground black or white pepper, cumin, chili, paprika, ground garlic, rosemary, turmeric
Preparing KFC Fried Chicken
In a pot we put water, the chopped chicken, salt and some laurel leaves to give more flavor to the chicken. I’ve seen some recipes where they use raw chicken but some don’t recommend it because it depends on the size of the chicken pieces and the time of cooking. If the chicken is raw, it usually happens that when it comes out of the oil it is not fully cooked inside, so to make sure I like to use the chicken already cooked.
In a bowl we mix the flour with all the spices and then we divide it in two: one part will be used to make the marinade of the chicken and the other part will overflow the chicken and give it that layer of crunchiness.
We take a part of the flour with spices and we add mustard, salt and pepper and we pour the cold water little by little until we obtain a half thick preparation, we put the cooked chicken and we let it marinate for a couple of hours in the refrigerator, minimum 1 hour or if you can leave it overnight much better.
Once marinated, we pass the chicken pieces through the other preparation of flour and spices that we reserved and then we fry them. Some recommend passing the chicken through the flour twice to make the layer crunchy. In my experience, one pass is fine, but my sister likes to do two passes.
Since the chicken is already cooked, the time in the oil will depend on how long our layer of flour has the browning we like. We take the pieces out and leave them on absorbent paper to drain the excess oil.
This time we did not make fries or salads, we preferred to accompany the chicken with baked potatoes and corn that we had saved for a special occasion. After waiting so long, all that is left is to prepare the table and enjoy!
Que copado!. Y que rico es el pollo!. Está dentro de mis pendientes prepararlo de esta manera!. Voy a guardarme está receta pa cuando encuentre el momento.
