S.M. Street, abbreviation for Sweetmeat Street, also known as Mittai Theruvu, is a shopping street located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India.
The history of SM Street dates back to time of the Zamorin when the ruler invited Gujarati sweetmeat makers to set up shop in the city and accommodated their shops just outside the palace walls

Hello @Decapolis ,
Welcoem to Connect!
Thank you for sharing this location and that delicious photo with us. Is this something like a fruit paste?

Hai, halwa is not a fruit paste.
Halwa is a aromatic sweet pudding made from cereals, fruits or vegetables. Usually it is made in ghee which imparts a very nice taste and flavor to the halwa. Lot of dry fruits like cashews, almonds, pistachios and raisins are often added to halwa recipes. All this makes the halwa a heavy but delicious dish which most foodie love to eat

@Decapolis definitely one of our favorite food items, and we try to only eat with limit because it’s very high in calories (in a good delicious way). But most of the time, when we start, we can’t stop eating this.
Check out my short trip to Kozhikode… and we may even have the similar photo of the halwa shop.

@BorrisS it’s similar in texture and chewy like Turkish delight, but much richer and made from different ingredients and much heavier and denser and oilier with clarified butter (ghee), coconut oil, jaggery, rice flour, and lots of other dried ingredients like fruits and nuts and sweet spices. Once we try it, we will be automatically addicted.
