It's weird!

Since I got my pin as a local guide. I didn’t get anything from Google Guide! I am not too active here but on the Google maps, I share many interesting photos and reviews. As Google Guide team mentioned me as one of the Top Photographer in NYC by sending me emails.

Then, when I was looking to some pages in here connect. I saw many of locals guides of the same level as me Level 8 but they got a lot of gifts from Google but not me.

I was wondering is it something wrong with my account? Even, I had many views and appreciation from the owner’s businesses.

Can someone from the Google Team explain to me please because they’re the only ones who know what I post.

Besides the numbers of photos which they were not counting even I got sometimes 100 and plus points but they didn’t change my level.

Thank you for your assistance.

@SunshineNY There’s no pattern for the Local Guides team with regards of distributing rewards. Looking at the other way, it’s great that you were able to get a pin. There are many Local Guides that have never got anything yet. Getting these physical rewards definitely feels exciting, but it shouldn’t be used as a base of performance evaluation.

There’s nothing wrong on your account. Eventually, if another reward is made available in your area, and it’s targeted towards you, you will ben notified again. We just don’t know when that’ll be. The biggest reward should be the fact that by contributing on Maps, you’re helping others so they’re able to use the information accurately.

@iyudhi ,

Thank you for your reply.

As, you said, " if another reward is made available in your area, and it’s targeted towards you, you will ben notified again." Interesting, I will wait for it.

I participate and I am proud of it because I do it with a big love but some souvenirs from Google maps are valuables to me too.

@SunshineNY

The vast majority of Local Guides never get any rewards.

My motivation is the joy of knowing that I’m helping a lot of people and businesses. Also, making new friends here on Connect can be considered a great perk. I find it very rewarding being a Local Guide.

You can learn more about perks by reading: Questions about Local Guides rewards. Also Why be a local guide? is worth a read.

And finally, make sure Rewards is selected in your email settings found here. And update the location to show your current location.

Cheers

@SunshineNY I do understand it always feels good to get gifts/perks/awards. But you know what they say, if you have no expectation, you can’t be disappointed :slightly_smiling_face:

Just forget about it for now and you will get a pleasant surprise if the reward is available for you again in the future (again, the keyword here is ‘if’).

Thank you,

Ok, I will wait until I get a surprise from Google maps.

I know that they are generous and sometimes we get some discounts on some places or on something and thanks to Google Team.

But something with Google Logo, I would love to have it too.

You know what I meant?

@MortenCopenhagen

Thank you for your reply.

I didn’t complain about anything and my only concern was why I didn’t get more gifts from Google maps?

I noticed some people under my level and they have many?? That was my question?? Was it something wrong with my account which I need to know? And I could fix it? Or something else?

Google maps becomes part of my lifestyle. Anywhere I go, I have to post it in Google maps with reviews. I used to share it with my family and friends and now with the world.

I love it and I am proud of what I am doing.

As one of the Top Photographer on Google maps and I don’t have anything to show that.

Something, I see it everyday and I can touch it.

I don’t know if you understand what I meant.

Again, thank you for the information you provided me.

This is a message from Google Maps Team on September 5th, 2023.

@iyudhi said it well, let me rephrase:

There is no pattern, and there’s no fairness in who gets rewards. It is just a marketing gimmick.
