What I love about being a Local Guide: You are a local source of truth. You see and interact with the local people and environment on a day to day basis. Much of what is reported/highlighted in the local and international press, most times, is always biased, as they seek to break news or have a big story going. But as a local tour guide, you’re doing it for your community and environment with a local touch. ![]()
My favorite thing to explore: I guess, everything and anything under the sun. I enjoy traveling a lot. Road trips are my thing when I can get time off work. But then, looking at most of my photos, Food comes up a bit too much :-), because, it is either, I am preparing the food or taking photos of food that has been prepared around me. Also part of exploring is learning new cultures, traditions and engaging with local community.

Fun Fact about me: I love going out. At least once a week, I have to have a local ‘kikao’ (seating) with my friends, who bring new people and we end up being friends. I love photography too. I am taking online classes to better my skills and learn new editing skills. And I’m trying to see whether I can organise a local food crawl in Nairobi, Kenya. If you have time, hit me up. Also, find my twitter post here as we try to gather steam and get the meet up going.
@KatyaL Welcome and good to meet you. My name is Tony and I love Japan. I am an American-born expat staycationing in Tokyo. Originally from Detroit, Michigan SoCal transplant.
The reason I love Google connect is because I like helping people connect with people. My speciality is Japanese sake and domestic travel to exotic hot spring locations in Japan. Self-published and I write to help foreigners like myself have a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan from another perspective.

What I love about being a Local Guide: I use the reviews & maps myself and I like giving back. See finding places of interest used to be based often on tribal knowledge & hearsay often supported by someones poorly lit/framed holiday snaps. I love that thanks to Local Guides & Google Map we now can find & see places before deciding to go. It’s adding something that is accessible & useful for the wider community, and one of the better things to come out of the digital age.
My favourite thing to explore:
Mostly Nature & Wildlife. Living in Ireland I’m blessed with plenty of places to go see on my doorstep and, going out walking/hiking fits with my health regime so I can combine my hobby & interests with keeping myself fit & healthy
Fun Fact about me:
I love photography, not very good at it as my hands shake but I find that a modern camera can be very forgiving. Last week I got a new bridge camera so still testing it out and getting used to it but below are a few snapshots.

Hey @Ant_Bad_Yogi ,
It’s great to be back online and thanks for your comments! I guess it won’t be a good idea to sing in front of many people as the result so far is not good, that’s why I’m saying my singing is not for everyone’s ears! But, why not, we can give it a try ![]()
