Hi everyone! Welcome to Local Guides Connect. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our community.
As “Introduce Yourself” threads can be lengthy, we start a new one each month and lock past threads. You can check previous threads, like February’s, to see who recently joined and where they’re from. We’ll merge any “I’m new” and “Hello world” posts we find elsewhere with this thread to keep things organized.
Do you want to be featured in our monthly Introduce Yourself posts? Share your introduction in the comments, following the five prompts below, and a horizontal photo of yourself (in landscape mode). The best introductions will be considered for future Introduce Yourself posts. Please note: Your response may be edited for clarity. By taking part in this challenge, you agree to allow us to share your answers and photo(s) publicly here on Connect.
This month, meet @Sunflower! @Sunflower is a Local Guide Level 7, and here’s what she shared.
1. Name: Tipkamol Chimjeen. (Tipper)
2. Location: Thailand
3. What led you to become a Local Guide: I am someone who loves traveling and discovering new restaurants. Google Maps has been an essential tool for my trip planning and preparation. Seeing helpful reviews from others inspired me to give back to the community. I’ve noticed that some location details are often incomplete, so when I visit a place, I make sure to find out more and add specific info to my reviews — such as parking availability, vegetarian options, or whether there’s a paid restroom service. Since I already enjoy taking photos and videos as keepsakes, I want to share them so others can see exactly what a place looks like. Helping people make informed decisions and plan their journeys brings me great happiness.
4. My favorite thing to explore: My favorite things to explore are tourist attractions, restaurants, and cafés. Since my husband and I both work online, we are always on the hunt for great food and the perfect environment for digital nomads like us — places where we can enjoy a delicious meal, sip quality coffee, and get some work done at the same time.
5. Fun fact about me: I used to be a tour guide on Phi Phi Island, a small but world-famous island in southern Thailand. Whenever my customers were out on the boat with me, they would always ask, “Which restaurant is the best on the island?” My answer was always to have them open Google Maps. I would then search for the best local restaurants and bars for them, so they could check the reviews, see photos, and find the directions. Google Maps has been incredibly useful for both my lifestyle and my career. I’m truly grateful for how it makes life easier for me and everyone else.
Nice to meet you, @Sunflower! Local Guides, don’t miss the chance to say hi to @Sunflower in the comments below and share your introduction, too.
