Name: Mahesh Bandaranayake
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka
What led me to become a Local Guide:
Growing up in a small, hidden village called Demunnewa and later moving to the bustling city of Colombo was a major turning point for me. Moving from calm, green landscapes to crowded urban areas made me realize how much we miss nature in the modern world. I became a Local Guide to bridge this gap to document and share those serene, untouched spots that offer a much needed escape.
My favorite things to explore:
I love exploring hidden ancient tanks (wewa) and remote villages that aren’t even on the map yet. Connecting with villagers over a traditional meal, hearing stories about ancient Sri Lankan culture from elders, and experiencing wildlife are the things I find most rewarding. I want to put these “unrecorded” locations on the map for others to discover.
Fun fact about me:
I’m a final-year medical student with a deep interest in psychology. I love observing how nature heals the human mind. In this fast paced era of AI and technology, I believe reconnecting with our natural surroundings is essential to rebuilding ourselves. Sri Lanka is the perfect place for that, and I’m happy to share its beauty with the world!

3. What led you to become a Local Guide: It all started with the first few clicks of my brand-new purple Canon camera. I fell in love with capturing food, anything unique, colorful, or just downright delicious. That curiosity behind the lens slowly expanded into exploring local businesses, sharing honest experiences, and helping others discover great places. What began as a creative outlet turned into something much bigger than I expected.
4. My favorite things to explore: I love uncovering unique eats, and anywhere that gives me a great shot and an even better story to tell, yet I thrive outdoors in nature by capturing the movement of rivers, the stillness of lakes, or the serenity of our lakes and rivers. I am drawn to churches, historic and religious structures, and unique buildings for their breathtaking architecture, stunning stained glass, and the incredible craftsmanship behind their design. Everything tells a story, and I am here to share that.
5. Fun facts about me: When I’m not out exploring or writing reviews, you’ll find me in my happy place deep in a creative project. I’m a huge crafter! I love to paint, make junk journals, candles, or handmade beauty products.

My name is Manjie johm, and I’m a Local Guide based in Banjul, The Gambia. I enjoy exploring new places, especially local restaurants and hidden spots, and sharing honest reviews and photos on Google Maps.
I joined the Local Guides program because I want to help people discover great places in my area and support local businesses by making them more visible.

15 Jahre Fernfahrt, 6 Jahre Hurghada und jetzt Taxi-Experte: Warum ich als Local Guide für Ehrlichkeit kämpfe 
Hallo zusammen aus Geesthacht! 
Ich bin Willy und freue mich riesig, jetzt offiziell Teil der Level-7-Community zu sein! 
Dass Google mir den „Rockstar-Status“ bestätigt hat, ist für mich ein Ansporn, noch aktiver zu werden.
Mein Weg hierher war lang und abwechslungsreich: Ich war 15 Jahre im Fernverkehr auf Europas Straßen unterwegs und habe zusätzlich 6 Jahre in Ägypten (Hurghada) gelebt. 
Heute fahre ich Taxi 
und genieße den täglichen Kontakt mit Menschen.
Was mich fasziniert, sind die Unterschiede: Während in Deutschland oft Hektik herrscht, funktioniert der Verkehr in Ägypten trotz des Chaos irgendwie. 
Diese Erfahrungen fließen in meine Rezensionen ein. Mit über 1,3 Millionen Aufrufen 
fühle ich eine große Verantwortung: Ich frage mich immer wieder, warum manche Menschen andere belügen, anstatt bei der Wahrheit zu bleiben.
Meine Mission: Ich nutze meine Reichweite, um Transparenz zu schaffen und andere vor falschen Versprechungen oder Betrug zu warnen. Wer von euch sieht das genauso? Ich suche Mitstreiter, denen Ehrlichkeit auf dieser Plattform genauso wichtig ist wie mir!

ich glaube, dass es die Traumwelt der Leute ist, eine in der Wahrheit und Ehrlichkeit herrschen. Was wir als Local guides machen können ist, richtig die Maps aktualisieren und ehrlich in unserem Alltag leben
