Hello everyone

I have learned that the most memorable places rarely look special at first glance—but they reveal themselves through how they treat you.

My name is Lilly , a Thai-born, UK-based Local Guide (Level 7 @The_polite_passport) who explores both everyday spots across the UK and experiences around the world. Over time, I have built a habit of looking for places where genuine hospitality matters more than visibility—whether that is a quiet cafe in London or somewhere I discover while travelling abroad.

Why I became a Local Guide
I started contributing because the places worth remembering are often the ones that are easiest to overlook. I focus on independent family businesses, low-key spots, and human experiences that don’t always appear at the top of search results.

A moment that shaped how I review places

My very first Google Maps review came after a trip to Malta. I had just finished a six-hour hike and arrived in Sliema late—soaked through from heavy rain and completely exhausted. I expected a quick appointment or even to be turned away.

Instead, I was welcomed into a small Thai-run spa. The staff helped me dry off, gave me a warm cup of tea, and created a calm, comforting space without hesitation. The massage was exactly what I needed—but what stayed with me most was their kindness and care. Before I left, they even prepared Thai food for me to take away.

It was not just a service—it was genuine hospitality. That experience inspired me to write my very first review on Google Maps, and it shaped how I approach every review I write today: focusing on how a place makes people feel, not just how it looks.

My contributions
As a Level 7 Local Guide, my photos have collectively reached over 200,000 views. I share experiences from both my life in the UK and my travels abroad, focusing on honest, practical insights that help others decide where to go.

How I approach reviews
I don’t just rate places—I try to explain what the experience feels like, who it suits, and whether it is worth seeking out beyond the ratings.

Fun fact
I photograph cats wherever I travel—they seem to capture the personality of a place better than anything else .

Why this community matters to me
Local Guides turns everyday exploration into something shared. I value being part of a community where real experiences help others discover places they might otherwise miss—both locally in the UK and around the world.

I’m thrilled to introduce myself to this amazing global community! I’m from Malappuram, Kerala, India, and I’ve recently reached Level 7 as a Local Guide.

I am a passionate motorcycle enthusiast and love going on solo adventure tours. Exploring new places on my bike and discovering hidden gems is what I enjoy the most. Professionally, I have a strong background in the beverage industry, specifically as a barista, so I’m always on the lookout for great coffee shops and cafes during my travels.

Being a Local Guide allows me to help local businesses grow and provide honest, helpful information to fellow travelers. I love sharing detailed reviews and high-quality photos of the places I visit.

I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you, sharing experiences, and learning how to be an even better contributor to Google Maps.

As a Local Guide, I believe that exploring local areas is very important. Every city has many hidden places and small businesses that people often don’t notice.

By visiting local markets, streets, and service providers, we can discover useful places and share real experiences with others. This helps people make better decisions and also supports local communities.

I enjoy exploring different areas in Karnal and nearby places, and I am learning something new every day.

I would also appreciate any guidance or suggestions from experienced Local Guides to improve my contributions.

Looking forward to exploring more and sharing my experiences.

Hi everyone,

My name is Mukund, and I am a Level 7 Local Guide from Jharkhand, India. I am really excited to be a part of this amazing global community!

I love contributing to Google Maps because it helps people find the best places and make better decisions. Currently, I work in the coal sector, so I spend a lot of time around industrial and natural landscapes.

My Interests:

Photography: I enjoy taking photos of new places, especially rugged terrains and local spots.
Technology & Gaming: I’m a big fan of the latest smartphones and strategy games like Clash of Clans and BGMI.
Travel: I love exploring mountains and rivers, especially the beautiful hidden gems in Jharkhand like Parasnath.
