I have had limited success at this POI in the past. I’m going to put together some shots and video into a couple of clips and see how they do. Someone has posted some excellent drone footage; that will be tough to compete with. The challenge is finding an overview that really does this place justice. It is an old trolley bridge.
I got a little behind last week due to helping with the Food video challenge.
Since I started this post, I had been looking forward to posting a photo of our fall foliage.
New England, and in particular Vermont, is known for having very vivid and beautiful fall foliage. This year, however, has been lackluster. It may be due to the very wet summer and warm fall weather we have been having. I’m posting two photos of trees from this year and last year.
Week-6
Yesterday was a beautiful fall day here in Vermont. Really gorgeous sunshine and just a great day to be out. But did I get a photo? No! Today, is rainy and there is fog along the CT river and clouds moving around the mountains. This is a view from Brattleboro, VT looking across the Connecticut River to New Hampshire.
Week-7
This week I am in Hancock, ME.
Normally by this time the leaves are down and they have had a frost, if not a freeze or snow. But today I saw this rose.
Week-8
It is a very rare thing for me to get up early enough to see the sunrise. I did last week at Hancock Point, ME
and got some great shots. Here are my two favorites.

Week-9
I just want to say a little bit about editing this photo. First I cropped the image to remove distracting elements and to bring the performers closer. I added contrast and saturation. I adjusted the balance of light and dark (not exposure). I also applied the unblur, sharpen, and denoise filters.
Week-10
@Rednewt74 Thanks for sharing those breathtaking photos. I particularly enjoyed the sunrise shots and the foliage-covered trees.
@PrasadVR , thank you for the kind words. I really enjoy sharing my work you and other LG’s.
Take care,
Nice shot of the band @Rednewt74
While subtle, the edits definitely improved the quality of the photo.
Bluegrass band? ![]()
Thank you for the feedback. I think the point of editing is to get the viewer to say “what a great image”, not “what a great job he did editing the image”.
And yes the band is rooted in bluegrass, but they go far beyond. Here’s a clip I recorded 5 years ago at the same venue.
While winter is long and cold here in Vermont, there’s a certain stark beauty as well. I brought out the warmth in the center of the sunset and and in a tree on left.
Week-11
Great philosophy @Rednewt74 and I completely agree. My goal is to make the photo look as the eye saw it, as phone cameras tend to leave them a bit washed out.
Solid clip, I’d check em out!
Today is US Thanksgiving day. One of the things I am grateful for is being involved in the Connect forum. Thank you to all the guides here that make it so special.
In the last few years long exposure photography for streams, rivers and oceans has become very popular. Basically you use a slow shutter speed, so the moving elements blur while the stationary parts of the image stay sharp. With a digital camera you have to use ND filters to get a correct exposure. The pixel phone takes two images and uses software to get the same type of image. I have mixed feelings about long exposure landscapes, but because it is so easy to do with my Pixel I take some every now and then. Here’s one I that I think came out nicely.
Week-12
I forgot to post last week, so this is for 2023-11-30. I had two photos I was considering and then I go so excited about the virtual meet up I never did anything.
So here is one:
My wife carries my old pixel 6a now as a camera. She took this early morning moon rise photo in a nearby cemetery. I did a little editing.
I don’t have one of my own this week, but will come back to it when i have another good one.
Week-13
I had never seen a Jackfruit until today. Odd enough to want to take a portrait.
They weighed about 35 pounds (16 KG) each
Week 14
I was walking around today during the “the Golden hour” and got two shots that I think are particularly nice. What I find interesting is the difference in hues and warmth between the two.
Let me know which one you prefer.
Week 15
@Rednewt74 this long exposure from a cell phone blows my mind. It looks so good. Great shots, sir.
Me too. No ND filters or anything. I think it is more designed for those night shots where you see the car lights like long lines. I know it takes at least two images. But yeah, I love it for this kind of thing,
I used a handle and braced the phone on the handrail of the bridge. I could see it shaking, but you can’t see it in the final image. A tripod is best. I just shot a bunch of things at a huge Christmas lights yard display. I’ll have to post some of those.
Love the long exposure of Whetstone Brook @Rednewt74
