Inside God's own State: Umuahia Photowalk

It was all joy as I touched down umuahia the Abia state capital after so many months. From that moment I made frantic efforts to capture everything that falls within my lens because I know it was a rare opportunity that might never come so easily again. For those of us that do not know Umuahia is Capital city of Abia state, a state in Nigeria and is nicknamed God’s own state because the name Abia is found so many times in the Bible.

So starting from the Iconic Abia tower along the Portharcourt – Enugu expressway, I proceeded to the Okpara square where the life size statue of Dr Michael Okpara stands. From there I proceeded to the Popular Abia mall where we have the Shoprite. It was a busy moment at the Abia mall as there were hundreds of shoppers shopping for the Easter holiday.

From there I moved down to the National war museum Umuahia another place of interest. It was my maiden visit to this historical place. This museum harbors the relics of the Nigerian – Biafran war. In this museum one can relive the 30 months fratricidal war in Nigeria.

The Last port of call was the Ojukwu Bunker it is another relic of the Nigerian civil war. This is an underground building with shelling or bomb proof. It was constructed less than three months by two great Biafran minds. The ojukwu bunker is a wonder and a monumental evidence of peoples’ determinism.

I believe this recap will help a lot of people to explore the city of umuahia, the capital of God’s own state.
