I am a Local Guide Level 8 and put many efforts to reach at this level.
But Google do not find anything valueable by our contribution. And not received any gift to praise my long time consistent efforts.
I remember once in a while I have recieved one code for Socks but still I missed due to confusion in US-India date writing format.
Ex. 3-7-xxxx is meant as 3rd July in India while US citizens consider it as March 7th.
But I did not get any chance later to avail that offer.
But I wish to avail all the benefits from Google which Local Guides enjoy until reach Level 8.

Hi @VRDhotre
We are all volunteers. We do what we do to help Maps Users and the community. If you get a perk then it’s a bonus, not a right.
There is no pattern, and there’s no fairness in who gets perks. It is just a marketing gimmick.
My motivation is the joy of knowing that I’m helping a lot of people and businesses. Also, making new friends here on Connect can be considered a great peek. I find it very rewarding being a Local Guide.
The real perk is to have an updated map available for free.
Hang in there, keep up the good work and maybe one day it’ll be your turn again.
You can learn more about perks by reading: Questions about Local Guides perks also Why be a local guide? is worth a read.
Cheers

As YouTubers make money by uploading videos. But Local Guide contributors do not earn anything. Although Google make money by promoting businesses through Google Ads.
So, of course, it is not a fair deal to disappoint any community.
The only rewarding thing right now is just gifts nothing else.
That also not giving fairly to the eligible contributors.
As I have already explained that, I got the gift from Google. But due to confusion in date format, I could not claim it.
Can’t I ask for the same?
Remember that, Google is not a NGO to Work as a Volunteers. It is a full-fledged business having multiple streams of income which are growing Year on Year.
We must expect rewards to work in any business.
This is completely voluntary, actually, we left it for coffee, what should I do, but you’re right, I didn’t receive any gifts even though I’m level nine, I think it might be more encouraging to have this as a criterion, but as I said, the more people we help, the happier we will be. @VRDhotre

I would love to believe your notion that perks are given based on quality. But I doubt it.
I think it is purely a motivational marketing gimmick. Perks can be from other companies when they want to market their products or services. Then perks will be awarded based on location and not quality.
Other perks are from and paid by Google. I doubt Google will go to any great length to wet the contribution quality to justify the cost of a pair of socks where the cost if handling and postage proabably outweigh the value of the socks themselves.
And it seems to me that the selection of socks recipients could be more based on regions and random draw than a manual quality check of contributions.
One perk = participation in the live events is based on manually checking the contributions and merits of Local Guides. But here the chosen few is limited to 150 or 200 people.
I might be wrong and would like to hear the opinion on this from others.
