How to take perfect pictures of food and drinks

Dear all,

I’m pretty new as local guide on google maps and so far I did some written reviews about my favorite restaurants and cafes. Though, I would like to add photos to my reviews but I’m not that good in taking pictures. Therefore I would like to ask you about your personal tips on food photography.

Do you generally combine photos and reviews or do you rather go for one or the other?

I’m interested in your opinions - thank you in advance for your comments.

Welcome to Connect.

I have four tips for you:

  1. Have a good camera or a good camera phone.

  2. Use natural light (from a window or outside in the shade).

  3. Always shoot with the light coming from behind you

  4. Zoom in to show lots of details.

And yes, I try to always add pictures, if I remember to take them before starting to eat. Half eating food is never nice to look at.

Following that simple tips for sure you will improve your technique. My personal tip is: take several photo, check them and only choose the best one to upload in Google Maps
