How to Search Local Guides by UserName

Hello, Local Guides.

Do you know how I can search for you if I know your UserName?

I can additionally use the @ symbol if it helps but this too does not result in anything useful.

I am able to search you only if your username was mentioned in some posts and tagged as well.

But such posts are far and few.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hello @TusharSuradkar ,

Hope you’re well and keeping safe. If I am understanding correctly, you’re asking about just searching usernames and finding a result of names rather than topics of conversations? Please see my screenshots below on how to do this :grinning: . I did a test with your username. You can also follow other Local Guides once you click on their names/profiles as well.

So as you’ll see, you must click on the “users” tab after your search. You may also search using a partial of the name , for instance, if you cannot remember the username, but this usually yields far too many results - this is why I recommend following user profiles. Hope this helps!

This is extremely simple, @TusharSuradkar

Our search tool can search for keywords or for users

You can also search for a keyword, filtering by author

Thank you @SP31

Thank you @ErmesT

I should have mentioned I am using a desktop computer.

How do I access the Search the Community page?

That seems to be the missing link.

Thanks again.

OK. Got it.

It was hiding in plain sight.

My bad @SP31 @ErmesT

Thanks once again.

Though when I search our friend @C_T I expected his name to be listed at the top since it is an exact search.

Fortunately, it is on the first page so I could sight him easily.

Hi, @TusharSuradkar

I also experienced the same problem as you if using sign "@ ". Thank you @ErmesT and @SP31 have explained about this. As explained by @SP31 , indeed more easy find local guide name if using search column than using " @ ".

@TusharSuradkar

this depend of the sorting option you choose: You used the default une (Username)

so they are sorted starting from 1, then A, B, C etc.

You can have several other options. In my example, I selected Post Number

Hello @TusharSuradkar

In the first place, I didn’t understand a need to search for any specific name.
Possibly, you remembered some name in one of the previous posts.
In that case, it’s much easier to search on the topic.

Nevertheless, like Google search, you can make exploration on a partial name.

However, one can change the profile name at will. Then searching that will be futile. Same is true for Maps profile name and profile photo.

What remains constant is the User ID. But, a search on a User ID doesn’t bring out any results, most of the time.
Nevertheless if you enter the link
https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/(User ID number), then that will take you to profile page & then further to the current name.
The best strategy would be to add names in “Follow” or “Un-follow” list & that removes the trouble of remembering a name or the user ID.

Thanks for your comment @C_T

Here 's a case where I am connecting with local guides in Delhi on personal chats where they inform me about other local guides they know and their names and user names. I try to search for those names in LG connect out here. Hence the need.

Thanks for the tips on searching for users, and for everything you do for the LG community.

~Greetings from New Delhi

If you get a Maps profile link, it’s impossible to locate that person on Connect for the following reasons @TusharSuradkar .

Not every LG enrols to connect.

Even if so, the Maps profile name & Connect profile name may be different. Even my Maps profile name is different.

Added to that is the flexibility to change the names.

In short, If you get the name of any LG through some contact, it’s better to enquire about the Connect link instead of struggling to find that here.

Thanks for the suggestions @C_T

The situation that I find myself in presently has only valid local guide names, to begin with, so this works well for me now.

But I have noted all other points you highlighted and they will be useful as well.
