Like most other public places, you have to think of what the parks are used for. If you keep in mind the kinds of people who frequent the area and what they typically do there, it will be easier to understand what people are looking for in a park review.
So here’s a quick list of 3 things to consider when reviewing a small park or nature spot:
1. The Park Itself
Describe the look and feel of the place. Is it clean? Are there a lot of trees? Walking paths? Does it have any good views? Be sure to mention anything scenic, like fountains or flowers. These descriptions are especially important for reviews that don’t include pictures (although you should try to have pictures whenever possible).
You will also want to include any amenities the park has (public restrooms, benches, etc), as well as any rules that are in place. Some parks have curfews, for example.
2. The People
Mention things you often see people doing in the park. Are there a lot of joggers? That could indicate that it’s a good place to go running. Do people often bring their children or pets? It’s also important to mention the amount of foot-traffic the place gets. A really crowded park may not be suitable for people looking for someplace quiet to do some bird-watching.
3. The Surrounding Area
Think about where the park is in relation to other things. Is there a parking lot nearby? Is it within walking distance of any good restaurants or cafes? Location is very important and you’ll want to give as much relevant information as possible. Knowing whether the park is near a school, a river, or an industrial complex can drastically alter people’s perception of the atmosphere.
Keeping these things in mind will help you to write nice, detailed reviews of the lovely parks around you. If it helps, you can also look at this review I did for a park near me.
