A few days ago, I was looking at the map when I noticed a dotted orange line on the map where it shouldn’t be. Because the line was dotted orange, I knew it was a road suggestion, but it hadn’t been approved yet (I confirmed it was submitted on August 22, 2025, by someone else). Since the suggested road was incorrect, I reported it on October 4, 2025.
I am sharing my experience here for the benefit of everyone.
Caution: We must double check before marking any suggest a road as inappropriate. Only report the ones that are definitely incorrect on the map.
If you find a similar inappropriate or incorrect road edit, here are the simple steps to report it using your computer:
Step 1: Get to the “Edit the map” Tool
Open Google Maps on your computer’s Chrome browser.
Move the map to the area where the incorrect road suggestion is.
Click the main Menu icon (≡) in the top-left corner of the screen.
In the menu that appears, click on Edit the map (Fig.1)
You are all done! You have told Google that this suggested road is inappropriate, and they will take action. By reporting incorrect edits, you help keep the maps accurate for everyone. You are welcome to share your experience!
Thanks for laying out the steps here, @PrasadVR. Maybe one day we’ll learn the mystery of where these pending long roads that cross the middle of cities are coming from.
Excellent walkthrough @PrasadVR sir, This is super helpful for LGs adding and editing roads on desktop. There are a lot of incorrect roads drawn in Google maps now a days
Sometimes I see these orange-dotted roads while looking to add new roads. When I hover over them, it shows that the road was submitted on a specific date by someone else. I am not aware of any systematic way to find these roads.
Thank you @TusharSuradkar ji, I am so glad you like my post. Kindly note this post for incorrect roads ( appears orange dotted line), submitted by someone else but not yet accepted.
@PrasadVR danke für diese Infos, mit dem Smartphone ist diese Bearbeitung natürlich auch möglich und so unmöglich gestaltete Straßen gibt es ja auch als genehmigte Straßen.
