I thought at first that I may have inadvertently infringed the Maps content contribution policies or possibly these places no longer exist. As a relatively new Local Guide I wanted to go through the process of finding out why they were hidden. Here are the steps I followed in case they are helpful to others in the same situation.
As a newbie I’ve only submitted 56 reviews so it was a quick process for me to scroll through the reviews and identify the 2 missing ones. The 2 reviews that were missing were of MONA an art museum in Tasmania and the Muṯitjulu Waterhole a tourist attraction at Uluru in Northern Territory of Australia. Along with these reviews I had contributed 3 videos for MONA and 6 photos for Mutitjulu Waterhole so these were all my missing 9 media as well! I think it is worth highlighting here that I started my search for the missing reviews as that was a much smaller list than the media list.
I re-read both reviews and I am at a total loss as to why they have been hidden along with the media.
I have lodged an appeal to get some clarity on why this happened as I think they should not be hidden.
Without the T100 system stats summary I would have been totally unaware that I had any hidden reviews or media!
@IzzyOz this post prompted me to take a look at my own profile. It seems I have 7 hidden photos and 4 hidden reviews. Doing the recommended search, I was able to find 2 of the 4 reviews - 1 from 2 years ago and the other from 6 years ago. That’s from a total of 260 reviews. It seems like quite a challenge to scroll through 1102 photos to find 7 hidden ones.
Hopefully @tony_b if you manage to find the other hidden reviews they will have the missing media too as mine did! Otherwise it seems to me to be a fairly laborious time consuming exercise when you have vastly more contributions than I do.
Maybe @AdamGT can implement a new T100 feature that identifies them all for us in his spare time of course!
I agree with you @IzzyOz. Having four times as many contributions as you do, it really isn’t an easy task. Yet there are LGs who have many thousands of photos and reviews, and who would also want to resolve this same issue. Manual methods become unsuited for the task.
The system by @AdamGT can tell us how many hidden contributions there are, but unfortunately it doesn’t direct us to the specific ones.
Yes @tony_b it’s a task that I don’t think I could do regularly if I had a great many more photos and reviews! Aside from the time it would take I’m not sure I would have the staying power to complete the task either
Very true. Sometimes I ponder the difference between having fun with this and being addicted. I’m not sure I wish to put so much energy into it, just to get continuous improvement and perfection. But it has been a good run so far, and I don’t want to give up either.
Yes @IzzyOz and @tony_b maybe AdamGT could implement a new T100 feature that identifies all the hiddens for everyone but he just doesn’t have any spare time!
That’s right @tony_b the System by AdamGT can tell us how many hidden contributions there are, but unfortunately based on the current data it cannot direct us to the specific ones. However, that said, in someway it could but this would require us to provide additional data which could be a problem in the case of high volume contributors

In discussions with Googlers yesterday I mentioned the difficulty that some Local Guides are having in locating/determining hidden photos and as soon as I can I will provide more details so that they can take a look at this issue.
This is great @AdamGT. Please don’t forget the reviews.
As I said earlier, for me, the solution for photos is by scrolling by date, instead of by views. Whereas for the reviews/ratings I don’t have a solution.
This is outstanding news. I hope they add in something which notifies tge user of duplicate and / or hidden photos and reviews. It would be a game changer. @WilfriedB@tony_b
Good that you were able to get in touch with the inner circle @AdamGT. Hope there will be positive change soon.
Isn’t it the same for both @WilfriedB? But if we generally have more photos than reviews, it is a much bigger challenge to scroll through the photos. That’s why I’ve only done my reviews so far.
Both what, @tony_b? As I said, for photos it makes a difference, whether I select By Date or By Views. Similar to reviews, Photos by Views never scroll to the very end, scrolling Photos by Date[1] always showed all 7,000+ every day since one year.
I never use the page down key or the mouse, but the End key instead, which always fetches 100 at once, but looking at the HTML, I get the information for all photos. ↩︎
Yes @StevenBerlin, notification would be nice. I wasn’t even aware of the hidden or visible concept until @AdamGT started to highlight it in the Top100 monthly Health Check updates. And even so, I had long periods where my “hidden” was at zero, so this isn’t something I go looking for unless I see others talking about it.
