How do I stop video compression?

Hi,

I take videos (4k 60fps) with my Samsung Galaxy s10. They look so nice on my phone, but when I upload them to Google Maps they look so ugly. I have disabled the Backup and sync option.

The question is why my videos are compressed?

I also try to enable sync and select the original quality but nothing has changed.

Thanks!

Hi @Saidlaan

GMB do not specify any maximum resolution for the video, other than:

  • Duration: Up to 30 seconds long
  • File size: Up to 75 MB
  • Resolution: 720p or higher

Can you please explain which procedure you use to upload your video? As a reference you can check: Add, remove, or share photos and videos

Hi @ErmesT

Thank you for your answer. Below is the process I use to record and upload a video to Google Maps.

1- I record UHD 60fps video
2- Click on share on Google Maps
3- Choose a location
4- Send

@DeniGu Ok, thanks! this is my first post :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Saidlaan

I have not read anywhere that Google committed to preserve the original quality of videos uploaded to Google Maps. And from experience it is not the case. Actually, most videos seem highly compressed.

Hence, I don’t think there are any options to turn off the compression.

Cheers

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for your answer! I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how I can upload a video without losing quality, so far I haven’t been able to
