How Do I follow people on maps from here?

  • I have clicked view their profile onbon Google maps but followingi an option. How do I search for people to follow? How do you gain followers?

Follow Local Guides on Google maps feature is available now world wide @Sus_Rec You can read more here: Enable Following on your Maps profile to help others .

On your Google maps in Update tab you can get recommendations from your city. Click on that person’s profile and click on follow button.

You also able to see updates shared by Local Guides.

Let me try to answer your last question.

There are basically two different kinds of uses of the following system.

Some people follow anybody in the hope that they will return the favor and follow them back. They are likely to hit the limit of following a maximum of 10.000,

Then there are those who only follow people they know, think are interesting, or want to learn from. Get inspiration from following.

To get followers in the second category you need to make good and interesting contributions on Google Maps.

You can put a link to your maps profile here on Connect (in your signature like mine below) and you can share the link to your Maps profile on social media.

Hi @Sus_Rec indeed you have valid answers from both @MortenCopenhagen and @NareshDarji

I personally follow

  • local people who make interesting contributions - so I can find cool things I did not know about in my area
  • people from cities I have or want to visit to learn the local culture and find places worth visiting
  • friends from around the world that I’ve met to help me keep in touch with them

There are a great many people who follow me on Maps who I simply ignore because when I check their profile they add no value to my experience in Maps.
