Good evening to all Googlers and all my fellow local guides around the world. As we all know that the HOLI is on the way so i want to wish all of you a very very Happy HOLI, i wish this Holi fiils the different colours in your life and all your dreams come true.

What is HOLI festival ?

Holi is a traditional Hindu festival which is celebrated mostly in all states of India and also spread the area of Asia. It,s major hindu festival celebrated in the begining of Spring (March) and take place over 2 days. This year in 2019 HOLI is on 20th March 2019 & 21st March 2019. This festival is most likely by all age group of children, adults and senior citizens too.

On the day of Holi people give hug to all friends, family members, relatives and paint with Gulal (a type of colour used in Holi) on their faces; shaking hands. Holi is also known as the festival of colours. Different types of colour used on the occasion of Holi such as: red, pink, purple, green, blue and yellow. However children like to play Holi with balloons filled with water colours and pichkari (a type of long syringe in which children used to fill colours) and through on everyone.

Why HOLI is celebrated ?

It’s to be believed that Hiranyakashipu was the king of demon and he has a son Prahlada, he was the devotee of Lord Vihnu and he worshiped daily but he was not agreed by the bad work of his father because his father was so cruel. His father(Hiranyakashipu) not like him as he worship Lord Vishnu.

Hiranyakasipu has a boon from the God that no one kill him by any source i.e any type of weapon cannot harm it. Everyone was sad by his bad work and now he has a boon too so all villagers worship to God so that God kill him.

Hiranakashipu also have a sister HOLIKA (Prahlada’s aunt), he make plan to kill his son through his sister because she also have many powers. One day Holika was sitting on woods and he called Prahlada to sit on her lap (that time she was wearing a scarf by the help of this scarf fire cannot harm her body) but Prahlada was unaware about her bad ideas so he sit on her lap after that his father Hiranakashipu put fire in the woods after some time a strong flow of wind came near to Holika and the air flow take off her scarf and put on Prahlada’s body. The flow of strong wind generated by Lord VIshnu because Prahlada was the real devotee of God so that’s why HOLI signifies The Victory of good over bad.

What is Gulal (a coloured powder used on the occasion Holi)?

Gulal is a type of powdered form of colour which is made with flower extracts but now a days the synthetic colours are used which are harmful for our skin.

Every colour has a different significant which is discussed below.
