It’s a new info for me that Tamils follow Hinduism @ThanulakshanS . I use to see videos of ‘Mahabharat war’ almost everyday. Videos are made for Indian TV serial.

@ThanulakshanS here is a very common proverb in which Sri Lanka is mentioned as Lanka.
लङ्कामा सुन छ कान मेरा बुचै i.e. The gold is in Lanka and my ears are empty ( without jewelleries)
This expression is used to indicate something that is not achievable.
