Hiking from Gokarna to Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu, Nepal

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods;

There is a rapture on the lonely shore;

There is society, where none intrudes,

By the deep sea, and music in its roar:

I love not the man less but Nature more …

  • Lord Byron

Yeah! I love not the man less but nature more. And thanks to the poet Lord Byron for writing such wonderful lines which suit to people like me.

The video file of the hike is below. (with google map view of the location).

Despite of overly populated capital city (Kathmandu) at middle if you make your way to its periphery then there is no doubt that you will be delighted with natural beauty. This is another hike from Gokarna, Kathmandu to Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu of Nepal.

Got up around 5 AM I visited my teammates at 6 AM. Then we went to the beginning point of hike (Shree Martyr & Peace Park Entrance) at 6:30 AM via. Bus. Then we waited our some teammates there also and started a hike at 7 AM.

The hike was of around 10 Km. The Google map view of the hiking route is embedded within a video. The weather was foggy in the morning. As the Sun shined the weather became more vigilant. Since winter season is in starting phase and there is always a cool air flowing at hills so the warmth of Sunlight was very enjoyable.

As the rays of Sunlight in the morning convert 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin to vitamin D so there is no doubt that level of vitamin D increased in our body. The video presented above will help to visualize the journey. To give the natural feeling of our hike the audio file of video is left as it is.

On the way we found national and international runners taking part in a race at mountains (watch video). The ending point of hike was Budhanilkantha Temple, Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, Nepal. We arrived there at 1 PM. (took too much time to feel the nature following tortoise steps hahahaha)

This is the first journey that I made wearing t-shirt of Nepal Local Guides.

Also I am very sorry that I am unable to cover the Whole journey in a video as my device memory got full while finishing one third way of journey.

Thank you so much.

This is my travel advice to those who are visiting Nepal to take a hike around Kathmandu valley at once.

  • How to reach this place: You need to be in Kathmandu valley. You can reach to the Gokarna Bus Park, Gokarna via. public bus or private vehicles. Then you can start a hike.
  • Where to stay: You can stay anywhere inside Kathmandu. Since it is a half day hike so you can get back to your living place in the same day.
  • How to move: Since the hike route passes through hills so the only way to move is walking. So you can carry stick to ease the walking.
  • Tips for hikers of other countries: Please tell about the hiking route with your travel guide. They will bring you there. You can visit a place without travel guide too but you need to have a google map. Though its a hilly area but the route is not that much difficult. If you don’t have a habit of walking then it may be difficult. Also don’t forget to bring foods and water with you to eat during a hike. There are no any potential risks from animals or others.

Hi @BishowvijayaP

Thank you for caring and sharing this wonderful video plus excellent pictures of your fabulous hike from Gokarna to Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is a very good recap with extra detail plus super inclusion of the Google Map as well! It gives you a great perspective of where you went, how far as well as the surrounding landscapes. Sensational.

It is so interesting to see your pictures, then comparing with the video and then to see it at a whole other level with the three-D Google Maps, My Maps image also. That really makes it clear to see all the information you tell us on the video as well is excellent, really informative.

The mountains look beautiful to hike. A very inviting picture and lovely to see all different areas around Kathmandu. Fun to see that the dogs run along leash free as well.

The runners in the competition being local and international are on a very difficult track from looking at your video as you all climb lots of rocks on your journey. The food you are all enjoying as a traditional local dish looks delicious as well. Another part that you have shared in so many great parts of your hike also including all the animals; the birds, pictures and sounds surrounding you all and the sweet songs around the village in the mountains. Plus the cow and the Monkey as well, you show lots of natural beauty there.

Then to also see the beautiful distant view of the Temple of Horizon as well as inside view of the inside Radha-Krishna Temple is fabulous culture you have included in your recap of an wonderful days hiking. It looks beautiful weather after the cool haze clears and top to hear and see a lovely sunshine was warm, and clear skies all glorious for you all. You look great in your Nepal Local Guides T-shirt too.

All up, this is a fantastic recap of a terrific view of your local natural wonders and outstanding images of the culture as well. And to also include very meaningful poetry by Lord Byron as well was an extra top feature that makes your presentation special. Thank you again for sharing this with us.

Best wishes
