Help me - i lost my local guides :(

I was a Level 8 Local Gu ide with 39,000+ points. Recently, my points dropped drastically to 36,000 and then disappeared completely. My level, badges, and most of my reviews are now missing or hidden. Some remaining reviews can’t be liked or seen by other users. I also lost photo credits — my photos are still visible but show no uploader.

This began after repeated upload failures; I had to press “Try again” multiple times for a review to go through. I’ve always followed the policies and all my reviews are genuine and based on real experiences. Please review my account and restore my contributions.

I’d like to report a serious issue that I’ve been experiencing with my Local Guides account. This started suddenly and has worsened over the past few days, despite my continued observation and caution.

I’m a Level 8 Local Guide with an original total of 39,036 points. I actively contributed hundreds of reviews, photos, and ratings — all based on real experiences, written manually, and following Google Maps’ policies.
Most of my reviews are long-form (over 200 characters) and many of my photos had received likes and were visible to the public.

:spiral_calendar: Chronology

:warning: Before the Issue:

  • I had trouble uploading a review. After clicking “Post”, I received an error saying the review failed to upload.
  • I pressed “Try Again” multiple times, and it eventually worked.
  • Soon after that, the following problems started happening.

:red_triangle_pointed_down: Day 1:

  • My points dropped drastically from 39,036 to 36,940.
  • I noticed that many reviews were no longer visible to the public, especially the newest ones.
  • The remaining reviews could not be liked or rated by other users.
  • Some of my uploaded photos were still shown, but they no longer displayed my account as the uploader.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Day 2:

  • Points slightly increased to 36,951, then 36,966.
  • However, reviews kept disappearing, one by one, starting from the most recent.
  • I stopped contributing for a few days to avoid further complications and to let the system stabilize.

:prohibited: Day 3:

  • My points and level disappeared entirely from my profile.
  • All badges were removed.
  • The section that used to show achievements like:

“Write helpful reviews with at least 200 characters”
now shows 0/5, even though I had written hundreds of long reviews.

  • My entire contribution profile now appears as if I never contributed.

Previously, I also held the Master Reviewer badge, and my contributions were discoverable and appreciated by other users.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: My Observations

  • I’ve been checking my reviews from another account, and they are vanishing one by one, starting from the most recent.
  • Even the few remaining visible reviews cannot be liked or interacted with.
  • The decline happened gradually over several days, not all at once.
  • This feels like a system-wide rollback or penalty, but I have not received any email, warning, or feedback from Google.

:white_check_mark: Important Clarification

I confirm that:

  • I did not use any bots, automation, or AI tools to generate reviews.
  • I did not spam, copy-paste content, or abuse the platform.
  • All reviews and photos are original, based on actual visits and personal experiences.

:folded_hands: Request for Support

I kindly ask Google and the Local Guides team to:

  • Manually review my account and its history
  • Restore my reviews, points, levels, and badges if no policies were violated
  • Provide any clarification on the reason for these sudden removals

I’m also happy to provide screenshots, links to locations, or any evidence needed for verification.

Semoga setelah mengisi form banding, akun Ibu segera pulih. Beberapa minggu yang lalu, akun seorang Local Guides dari Indonesia ditangguhkan karena alasan yang belum dapat diketahui. Akan tetapi setelah mengajukan banding, akun tersebut dapat dipulihkan dalam beberapa hari.

Namun saat dia login lagi katanya isinya tetap di banned dari forum dan status di google maps masih bukan bagian dari Local Guides lagi (Level, Poin dan lainnnya kosong)

Seingat saya, pada kasus teman saya, butuh waktu beberapa hari sampai akunnya benar-benar pulih. Yang penting ada balasan email seperti yang tercantum di atas, sehingga dapat membuktikan bahwa akunnya dapat dikembalikan.

Hi @ivvi.story You may be removed from local guidance, but your comments will still be published. Your comments will not be deleted if you are removed from the local guide program. At least that’s what I know. I have seen similar examples. As you can see, once you are removed from local guidance, the badge disappears. There should be no yourself or people around you in your photos. Only add photos based on the service you received.

Account Restored but Reviews Still Private

Hello and thank you to Google and the Local Guides team — my account has been reinstated, my level and badge are back. However, I noticed that my “Master Reviewer” badge has been reset to “Novice”, and in the Helpfulness section, the counter “Write 5 reviews with over 200 characters” is now showing 0, even though I have written many reviews with over 200 characters in the past.

Could you please advise what I should do? Is it now safe for me to start writing new reviews again, or should I wait until the system updates my badges and progress? Thank you for your help and guidance.

I don’t know the answer to your question. A more serious issue is that your comments aren’t showing up. Your photos are visible on your profile, but your comments aren’t. I think this is because your badge has been removed.

Yes, I can confirm that all your 623 reviews are currently taken down by the AI spam filter.

After the successful reinstatement of you Local Guides status you will need to try this form to get a manual check of your reviews. If they follow the guidelines they will become public again.

Please note that you will not get any notifications. So you will need to check maybe weekly in the next 6 weeks to see if Google will allow back your reviews.
