Heavy rain and a lot of fun - When the Local Guides meet

Heavy rain and a lot of fun

These are the first things that are coming in my mind, when I rethink about the Meetups we had on November 23rd and 24th.
Much More Than Wine. La Dolce Vita, Italian Style of Fun, despite the heavy rain, has been a great and huge reunion, with 20 Local guides from Five different Countries, 10 summit Alumni from Local Guides Summit 2017, Connect Live 2018, Connect Live 2019, Two Connect Moderators, all together for the great pleasure of meeting each other.

This post is a global introduction of two days of fun.

The beauty of being friends.
Friendship is one of the important values of being Local Guides and, in this case, can also be represented by numbers:
Paulus, Jane, Natalka, Valentine, Stella and Karol were coming from abroad (Estonia, Ukraine, Slovakia and Greece). It means Flight and Hotels, paid by themselves, for being here. They decided to come in advance, for visiting Venice, Treviso, Vicenza, Padua and more.
Emanuele, Gaetano, Angela, Giuseppe, Luigi, Flora and Riccardo arrived from far away too (Norcia, Milan, Parma and Lucca), and of course they remained overnight.
The real Local were Antonella, Aurora, Paolo, Mariacristina, Davide, Raffaele and Michela

Talking about numbers, it is interesting to know how the attendees contribute in Google Maps. Please check these AMAZING NUMBERS.

We (together) already contributed with:
6.850 Reviews
68.000 Photos
3.440 Videos
108.700 Answers
6.819 Edits
800 places added
6 roads added
For a total amount of 648.746 points

This for me is absolutely impressing, and also tell us that “there are not so many roads missing” in Europe in Google Maps.

Pre and Post meet-up activities
Paulus, Jane, Natalka had a pre-meetup with Davide in Vicenza, and I am sure they will write a post about that, and about the Friendship that started at Connect Live 2018.
Valentine visited Venezia for a couple of days
Karol and Stella spent Friday night together in Treviso
After the event, Stella traveled in Veneto for a week, visiting …… (I am sure she will tell us, isn’t it?)

Myself, I had a preliminary wine meet-up (that is becoming traditional too) with Karen (in California of course) just a few days before Connect Live, for visiting a winery.

So we finally met each other. Saturday 24th, at 9:30 am. Following the tips of How to organize a great meet-up, I arrived there a few minutes in advance, having in this way the pleasure to see all the others arriving, all of them with a huge smile. Friends, happy to meet.

As I said, the rain was heavy, so most of us was shopping on the street market, to buy … umbrellas. Umbrellas that we had to use for the whole two days

Despite the rain, the Street Market Walk was interesting and funny at the same time.
We discovered the local products, like the Radicchio Tardivo, we had fun in a bar and …… ….and to know more about the morning … here is the Recap

After the first meet-up we reached a pizzeria, for a lunch together. Again, fun and happiness, and a lot of colorful pizzas …

We had to eat quickly, and run to the Wine Meet-up, the core of the day.

Antonella, Angela and Aurora (the three A ladies) joined, while Raffaele had to leave, for some institutional activity:-) He will tell you what I am talking about
What to say about a wine meetup? Is it just people seating around a table, to drink wine?

No, it is not. A wine meetup is about culture, history, tradition, devotion to a scope of a business, and more than this. The Recap is here for you

Time is passing, glass after glass, smile after smile, and it is time for the dinner.

Do you want to join us, and discover the traditional food of Treviso? Treviso Food Crawl 2019 - Local Guides discovering Local Food

The night is short, when you are with good friends, and the morning is coming early. Is meetup again, this time on the main square of Treviso.
Natalka, that we adopted as “Local” is asking us to guide the group to one of the most hilarious statue of the city. You will have to check the photo album to know what I am talking about .)
It was raining again (obviously) so we had to change the plan, for walking protected by the arcades of the city.

Can a recap be represented in a single photo, like the one here below?

Maybe not. To read more: Treviso 360 photowalk - 2nd edition - 360 on the rain

The meet-ups ended, but most of us wanted to stay longer. We decided to go for lunch in a restaurant in the city centre.

The most difficult part was …. to say goodbye

This post is part of the recaps of “La Dolce Vita, Italian Style of Fun,” series.

Thank you so much, @Tanvir_Hasan

I agree, rain is blessing.

I have been the first to be impressed by the numbers.

When you organise a meet-up, you never know if the result will be the one that you expect.

In this case I was absolutely surprised, by the number and the level of the attendees.

Amazing

Bellissimo! Grazie! Spero di poterci essere in futuro! Ciao

Thank you @LuigiZ

I didn’t realized how big this meetup was until I saw all the group in there, on Saturday morning. Scaring at first, as I was rethinking about everything, finding the inadequate parts, and the rain as an enemy to fight.

But the energy of the group, the energy of you all was so high, to make the rain something irrelevant.

So, congratulations to everyone who wanted to be here. I have learned a great lesson, about the power of the group

Numbers are a matter of fact, @uavalentine , also the amazing numbers or this group of Local Guides.

You mentioned an interesting word: family.

That’s true, I consider Local Guides community a family, for the common experience that we have, for what we like to share.

And like a family, what we share is not formal, but substantial instead.

When we meet for the first time, on Saturday morning, my feeling was to meet a friend that I knew already. And it was true, as we met several months ago, in this community

I will not be surprised to see you here @Denise_Barlock

Treviso is just 30 minutes to the most famous Venice (maybe this is one of the reason why the Local Guides wants to come here, LOL), whenever you want to come, just ping me :slightly_smiling_face:

I will be happy to be your own Local Guide.

We are thinking about a meet-up in Venice for Carnival. Sounds interesting?

@ErmesT We won’t make it to Europe in 2020, but we do plan to go over there in the next couple of years. Italy is one of my favorite countries! I will absolutely try to make it during a meetup so that I can participate :slightly_smiling_face: I’m sure we’d see more with local guidance! I’m there in a year or two or three… Italy or bust!

When I am thinking about Treviso meetups, I full of warm feelings about this incredible weekend. Such amazing people in such amazing place!
I had wonderful opportunity to meet in real life awesome Italian Local Guides @LuigiZ @Giuseppe75 @manulele81 @raffaele_guidolin @RiccyB and other wonderful people (dear friends, I can’t mention all of you due to technical issues).

And I learned huge amount interesting things about Italian traditions, culture and cuisine from them.
It was my first visit to Italy and I definitely felt in love with your awesome country forever! I love these beautiful friendly people, I enjoy delicious traditional Italian food, I keen on walking under ancient Treviso arcades.

Thank you dear @ErmesT for great opportunity! Yes, I charged with energy and luck of Treviso! It’s really works!!!

And I want to tell in addition - True Local Guides aren’t afraid rain!!! They enjoy it with rainbow umbrellas! Cheers to my friend @uavalentine
