Happy World Samosa Day - Share your samosa story

Happy world samosa day - never hurt a Samosa by saying No, they too have fillings inside

World Samosa Day is celebrated every year on September 5. The day honours the samosa, which is a popular fried, pyramid-shaped snack. A mood-elevating eatery that used to be a travellers food in small triangles.

Did you know?

The word “samosa” is derived from the Persian word “sanbosag” or “sagoshag,” meaning "small triangleS.

The samosa originated in the Middle East and Central Asia, first appearing around the 10th century as a pastry called “sanbosag” or “sambosa,” filled with meat and spices. It was introduced to the Indian subcontinent by Central Asian traders between the 13th and 14th centuries. Over time, the samosa’s filling adapted to local tastes, leading to the popular vegetarian versions with spiced potatoes.

Mini Samosa & Tea by Yogesh

We all love Samosa. And it’s world samosa day today.

Chai and Samosa are one of the best pairings for a cosy evenings with family. Yogesh Mini Samosa is a roadside vendor in CP sells 5 Mini Samosas for just Rs 20. These samosas have good filling and are served with two chutneys. They also sprinkle their own masala with adds on to the taste. They also make fresh bread pakodas. They also make great ginger tea. We had this lovely combo of samosa & tea and did some chai pe charcha too.

It’s run by the whole family & is generally crowded so might have to wait during rush hours.

@Ssiddharth2000 its a nice samosa and tea stall. I liked their tea a lot. Bread pakoda & samosa were nice. Yes, definitely we can plan a meet up. Bhogal chhole Bathure is just walking from here. Janpath market is 5 minutes walking. And there’s a lineup of multiple south-Indian restaurants like Gokulum, Amudham, A2B, Sarvanns. So it’s a wonderful place for a meet up.
