Great surprise From Maps on Desktop: Multiple Stars for hotels

:woman_singer: :woman_singer: :woman_singer: :woman_singer: :woman_singer:

This is a post to say thank you for a beautiful improvement I just discovered in Google Maps.

EDIT: The improvement isn’t new, as shown by @C_T in his reply, even if it’s the first time I’ve seen it. This is probably because most of us only use the mobile to write a review. Funny thing: This function is available on desktop only.

The photo is not related to the content, but as it is Carnival, I find it appropriate to capture your attention.

I want to share with you the great surprise that I had, minutes ago, when I decided to write a review that I forgot to write for a long time.

Thanks to @Giu_DiB and to @davidhyno for recalling the place to my mind

The place is a castle, but can also be considered an hotel, because you can book a room and sleep in there.

I started to write my review, but I was surprised by the Pop-up, asking “What kind of trip was it?”.

You can choose between six options:

  • Business
  • Vacation
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Solo
  • Couple

You can also avoid to click in there.

Then I scrolled down, and with my surprise i read: “ANYTHING ELSE TRAVELERS SHOULD KNOW?”, with the possibility to give seperate stars for:

  • Rooms
  • Service
  • Location

I want to say THANK YOU to Google map, as this is something I was asking one year ago: Multiple stars to rate a business for improving the information to the customers

[EDIT] - The system works also editing an old review. Here is how the review appear on desktop only

This is great !!! Do you like it?

Have you already tried to give multiple stars to a location?

Hi @ErmesT ,

that’s indeed very nice and will bring even more value to the contributions.

Actually I did already noticed a few weeks ago on the mobile app as well while reviewing a hotel, I didn’t pay much attention to that but I thought actually that was never popping out, it was exactly asking for different rating for every of the category in your screenshot.

Wonderful, thank you for the update and nice seeing new improvements  .

I am just curious about your test, @davidhyno

But I already love it. Let me see if I can update my old reviews

Es espectacular @ErmesT , me encanta esta nueva actualización de Maps, no la vi en acción todavía pero espero verla pronto cuando comente sobre alguna visita a un hotel.

That’s interesting @LuigiZ

I tried to edit my review on mobile, but it doesn’t appear.

Maybe because the latest version of maps app is not rolled out on my device :disappointed:

@ErmesT That’s very nice to read about this feature it is obvious a business or a hotel cannot up to mark in all aspects so its better to give different stars for different specification and also thanks to tell us how to grab attention to give an inappropriate picture

Thank you @FaridTDF

This was on desktop, so I believe it is accessible to everyone.

I find it really amazing.

It seems that with the 15th anniversary, Google Maps is preparing some surprises

Hi @ErmesT and all my friends, from desktop this new view of the reviews I see them and also retroactive, as you yourself have confirmed.
Among other things, it also appears for all structures that include overnight stays, even tourist campsites!

On the mobile side just a couple of days ago also on iOS (iPhone and iPad) the graphic interface of Maps is adapting the same as that on Android!
Great!

@ErmesT — thanks for tagging me. Indeed, this is exciting news.

I did try on my desktop for a new hotel and got the same new rating pop up window like what you have shown on your screenshots.

This new hotel reviewing feature will be awesome to try in the next few weeks when I be staying at a hotel.

Yes, it only works on desktop for now. I tried on my iPhone and just got the standard stars/ write a review box.

I did go back to my last hotel review on my desktop. For the San Jose Marriott, I did see my existing review and also did get the rating pop up window, which I did complete. No additional new points did not appear though.

Cheers,

Karen

Hello @ErmesT

It’s worth highlighting the feature here on Connect.
However, that’s not recent. I have used that for quite some time.
Over here, is a snapshot of a review which is approx eight months old.

May be, not many persons are using desktop Maps for posting reviews.
