In August, @NunungAfuah messaged me on social media saying she had Local Guides pins she brought back from ConnectLIVE 2026 in Singapore. I was glad that she wanted to share them with fellow Local Guides, including Jawa Tengah Local Guides. Then, in September, I received the pins she sent from Jawa Timur or East Java to my hometown in Jawa Tengah or Central Java.
I was initially unsure how to distribute the pins, but I decided to host a quiz I created myself. Several Jawa Tengah Local Guides were so enthusiastic that some even took the quiz multiple times. The winners who received the ConnectLIVE pins were: Anisti Riris, @ElyasD, and @indra_susanto. Other active participants included @Adiyantosukardi168, @Nabilzuhri, Lyl Nafiah, Vendy. All of the participants also received some gifts from ConnectLIVE 2025 in Tokyo and Meet-Up Nusantara 4 2025 in Surabaya that I previously attended.
Since I had a chance to visit Semarang, where most of the participants live, I dropped off the prizes in person. I took public transportation, including the Trans Jateng Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). While waiting for the bus, I snapped a few photos and later wrote a review of the bus stop, paying attention to its new appearance and accessibility (although the quality still needs to be improved).
I visited @ElyasD’s house, and he kindly treated me to warm tea and delicious snacks. He also gave me some awesome “Semarang Local Guides” stickers. It’s a pity I didn’t take any photos together, but we had a great conversation about new Maps features, the Semarang Local Guides community, and their preparations for next year’s Meet-Up Nusantara in Semarang. I left some gifts at his place so the remaining local participants could pick them up. Thank you for your hospitality, Pak Elyas! As for the Local Guides living outside Semarang, I decided to send their prizes via a courier service.
