Giants of the lost world - A visit to Dinosaur and fossil park

Hello, Local Guides!

Today I am talking about the Dinosaur and Fossil Park inside the Indroda Nature Park at Gandhinagar.

The dinosaurs and fossil parks here display life-size statues of those giant animals and some of their remains. The park also contains fossil remains and petrified eggs of dinosaurs with details of each period in which they existed and the characteristics. The eggs and fossils displayed here are from the dinosaur fossil excavation site and the 2nd largest hatchery at Rayoli village in Gujarat.

The statues of dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Megalosaurus, Titanosaurus, Barapasaurus, Brachiosaurus, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Iguanodon are placed here in the park.

The park built-in a natural environment, and it has some other attractions for visitors. Likes zoo, bird gallery, snake house, cycling, botanical garden, and cactus garden. In which you can enjoy a day trip with the kids.

Special arrangements have been made by the administration for a wheelchair, public toilet, and drinking water facilities in the park to make it accessible to visitors.

Park timing: 8.00am to 6.00pm (Monday closed)

Ticket charges: 10 Rs per person and 50 Rs for vehicle parking (Including 4 people).

Have you ever visited a dinosaur and fossil park?

I would like to know your experience here in the comments.

Great photos of interesting looking creatures of many years gone by @NareshDarji . From your photos it looks like a well presented and beautifully maintained jurassic park! As well as the giant replicas, the fact that the park contains fossil remains and petrified eggs of dinosaurs with their characteristics and details of each period in which they existed makes it sound like an open air educational museum. From the fact that the park has many attractions (e.g. cycling, botanical garden, and cactus garden), am I right to assume that it attracts not only kids but many of all ages?

Hi @NareshDarji ,

I love dinosaurs, and that park definitely looks like a fantastic place to visit on a sunny day! Are all the fossils and petrified eggs displayed outside, or is there also an indoor exhibition hall?

I like the note you made about the availability of wheelchair paths, public toilets, and drinking water facilities at the park. I hope these details made it to your review of the place, because they are great value.

By the way, I’ll change the topic of your post to Travel as it fits better there: it’s a wonderful bucket list recommendation!

You’re right, @AdamGT . The park attracts not only children but people of all ages. The uniqueness of the park is that it is built within the natural environment so that the visitors feel like enjoying a walk in the forest

As a local guide I want to show the beauty of this park through my photo to the people who come here @Tejal .

Thanks dear @vvaibhav655 .

If you have a picture I would like to share it here with us @MahabubMunna .

Thank you @KalyanPal Adding some essential information to the post makes it useful to others. Which is why I have added the necessary information here.

Glad to know you like dinosaurs @DeniGu .

No, not all the remains and petrified eggs are displayed outside but they are placed in a small indoor exhibition hall. So that the visitors who come here do not harm it.

As you mentioned I will definitely write these details in my review.

Thank you very much, your response has increased my enthusiasm a

lot.

Nice post. An even nicer title. Apart from seeing these life sized Creatures, I just remembered that; once, I was made to go through a ‘horror house’ and pretend to witness/feature in the Big Bang Theory.

When the Dinosaurs come at you, it’s a real horrific experience.

It was at Epcot, the other time was a Virtual experience at a Virtual Reality ExperienceCentre, where I was accompanied by another Local Guide  :grinning: 9D reality experience, I screamed my guts out, everytime the Dino came at me.

9D reality! Sounds like interesting. I have never experienced 9D reality.

If I talk about my experience, I went to see Jurassic Park movie in 3D for the first time. It’s like a real scary experience when a giant dinosaur comes to me and it was a really thrilling experience for me.

Thanks for your appreciation @AjitThite . Glad to know that this is an informative post for you.

Thank you so much for your encouragement, @MehadeHasan @RosyKohli , @JSharma .
