Finally, emoji icons on desktop! 🖥️🗺️😀

Back in September 2023, Google rolled out anew feature in the Maps app with the otiopn to customize our lists with emoji icons so these could appear on the map and show the kind of places it was referring to instead of the generic bookmark icon.

Here is a view of some of my saved lists of NYC:

Almost two years later, this feature has arrived to desktop, it was a nice surprise to see my icons show up on the map, it’s cool to see them in a bigger screen.

Something I noticed is that it only works on the “Map view” and not on “Satellite view”, maybe it will work soon on both views.

Edit: It now works on both Satellite and Map view :+1:

I’m still waiting for the “hide all lists on your map feature” though, sometimes I need my map to be clean so I can explore better.

Oh funtastic @LaloPadilla yes it is so funtastic when we see our own emoji creation on the map. Here is my created list emoji on satellite view on my mobile view. (&don’t mind it’s mobile view i mostly my map work through my mobile)

Thanks for the screenshot @shaileno , now I realize that the emoji is part of the name, that is not correct, if you have the chance please remove it , +1 edit :grin:

I wonder if this is country specific or by region. I looked at mine on desktop today and all of the icons are still the :round_pushpin: default. Only on mobile do I have my other emojis. :memo::bookmark_tabs::statue_of_liberty::cross_mark::slot_machine:

Yeah saw this one too today @LaloPadilla since I mostly use desktop only for writing posts ! Yes, loved this feature ! My Map is definitely more colourful now.. :smiley:

That’s weird I would have expected US users to be the first ones to have this one, maybe in the next days/weeks you’ll be able to see the emoji icons!

That’s right @GasparKaren ! I really like to see my map with my lists emojis!
