Exploring Monas is the most my experience that will not be forgotten as a Local Guide

Last October 2018, I went to the “Monas Monument” in Jakarta which has a lot of historical value for the people of Indonesia. In addition to domestic tourists, there are also many tourists who come from foreign countries. The National Monument or popularly abbreviated as “Monas” or “Tugu Monas” is a 132 meter (433 ft) memorial monument erected to commemorate the resistance and struggle of the Indonesian people to win independence from the Dutch East Indies colonial government. The construction of this monument began on August 17, 1961 under the orders of President Sukarno and was opened to the public on July 12, 1975.

If tourists want to go to Monas, they can take the Transjakarta bus that has been provided by the government. During the trip to Monas, tourists can see the city of Jakarta from the bus. Just before noon, Transjakarta bus passengers will be increasingly congested, some even have to be willing to stand on the bus because they run out of seats. But don’t worry, there are priority seats for parents, women, children & people with disabilities.

After reaching the gate of the Monas complex, tourists who want to go to the Monas monument, can walk or can also take a free mini train.

For tourists who want to enter the Monas building, they must pass through the underground tunnel first. Entrance tickets can be purchased at the front door of the tunnel. The Jakarta regional government in cooperation with the DKI Bank makes entrance tickets to Monas & other tourist attractions in Jakarta in the form of Jakarta Cards (Jakcard). In addition to entrance tickets to tourist attractions, Jakcard can be used to take a Transjakarta bus & park vehicles in the tourist area.

If the tunnel has been passed, tourists will enter the “National History Museum” room where there are many dioramas that describe the life from prehistoric times to the new order. So, in addition to entertaining the tourists, Monas also serves as an educational tourism that can foster a sense of nationalism and increasingly love Indonesia.

After feeling satisfied going around and seeing the dioramas, tourists can get ready to go up to the top of Monas. At the top of Monas, you can see the city of Jakarta. There is also provided a telescope for tourists to see the city of Jakarta clearly. In addition, tourists can take pictures together and relax to enjoy the wind that blows hard while looking at the scenery in the city of Jakarta.

For other friends in Indonesia & abroad who have never been to Monas, let’s schedule an upcoming vacation to Monas, Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. In order to enjoy the beauty of Monas and love Indonesia more.
