Expert Reviewer badge - stats stuck?

Hi all. My Expert Reviewer badge qualification stats have been “stuck” for quite some time now: it’s been showing I need to complete one further detailed review for 3+ months. Screenshot: https://photos.app.goo.gl/drkYk58dXu2dAQR47

I tried sending feedback to the Google team on this a few weeks ago, but they didn’t respond (and, to be fair, there’s no option to send feedback from the page in question, so I couldn’t attach an appropriate screenshot). I also note other users have reported very similar circumstances on this forum – and that the only resolution advice seems to relate to reviews which violate standards and get marked as private, therefore not counting.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been travelling a lot and have added several new detailed reviews, all of which I believe are public and so this badge criteria should easily have been met now. Is anyone able to help get things moving again, or make contact with someone who can? Thanks!

Hi @TimNashWelcome to Connect! If this is your first visit, you’ve come to the right place. This post will serve as a guide for everything you need to know about contributing content and engaging with the Local Guides community on Connect” . This is the first of the information that you will find in “Your guide to Connect” , the introductory Guide of the community. In there you will find all the necessary information to know how to better contribute in here.

The reason why you are not getting the badge is that only 49 of your reviews are considered helpful, and you need one more long reviews. As your screenshot shows also the hidden reviews, that should not be a problem.

In any case 33 of your reviews are not public, as you can see from your public profile

Please use this Google Form to share your profile with Google and let them know which contributions don’t appear on Maps.

Keep in mind that the check may take several weeks, and at the end everything that is not against the rules will be released

Do you have a doubt about how to do something related to Connect or Google maps? The Help desk is here for you, with a long list of post with detailed indications on how to post.

Which kind of contents we share in the community? What are Connect topics? will give you an explanation

Hi

I have exactly the same issue. Been stuck on 47 for 2 months. Any advice please ?

Okay, thanks @ErmesT . I’ve used an Icognito Window to find my public profile and see what you mean about 33 reviews not being published. In fact, it seems no reviews from my current travels have been published – ie. nothing I’ve contributed since the beginning of Decemember.

If you look at my (public) photo contributions, you’ll see many added from loads of different places during that time – and I’ve written reviews for every one of the places I’ve uploaded photos for. In fact, most photos were added as part of the review process, not uploaded on their own.

Something seems awry here and I’m not sure the form you suggested is the right way to investigate or fix it?

Perhaps you or another community member have another idea, or similar experience?

Thanks again, Tim

Hi @TimNash

Yes, filling the form is actually the only way to submit a request to the team for checking your review and restore them.

I am having exactly the same issue, like hundreds of other Local Guides, and I know very well your feeling.

Please keep in mind that the check may take some weeks, but at the end everything that is not against the rules will be released

Fair enough, thanks again @ErmesT . If so many are having the same issue (dare I say bug?) seems a little daft for each of us to be submitting individual forms for individual unpublished reviews and thus overwhelming the team dealing with them… is one of the point of this forum not for Google Staff to be able to see reports of such things? :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ve submitted Google Forms for a selection of five missing reviews - from a mix of UK/home, New Zealand and Australia. Will see what comes back to any of them before sending any more… :rainbow:

It is not so easy to explain, @TimNash .

Reviews are becoming an issue for most of the companies that are providing reviews, and Google Maps is one of them.

Inappropriate reviews can be used to change the rating of a place, and this in some western country can end in legal actions (I think your country is one of them)

So every company built an AI to filter the reviews, trying to keep the value of honest ones and to reject the ones that seems to be caused by Fake Engagement.

Unfortunately every AI can fail, and more complicated is the algorithm higher is the risk of false positive, but obviously with 150 million of Local Guides it is impossible to check the reviews one by one.

I guess the form is a way for a human operator to teach the AI by releasing the good reviews.

It can be discomforting, I perfectly know the feeling, but this actually seems to be the only way to fix the issue. Personally I continue to write my reviews, waiting for the team to release them. I consider this like a kind of contribution to improve the AI.

But it is sad to see that, due to some attempt to alteration of ratings, some honest contributor is not able to post.

Being a moderator I read a lot of post, many about hidden reviews, and others asking for fake reviews to be removed.

Unfortunately there is a big illegal market behind the fake reviews.

Keep doing the good work

im having the same issue. My likes have been stuck at 41 on my badge stats page for a few months. I even received emails when my likes reached 50 and 100, yet still, it is not reflected on my badge stats page. I tried submitted the form Ermes recommended. Hopefully something comes of it for all of us.

Sorry to hear people are still experiencing this issue. As yet, I’ve had no response from Google in reply to my form filling and submitting – but I know that some of my “stuck” reviews have been published recently, as I suddenly started getting some replies to them from business owners for places I reviewed at the end of last year.

I know I’ve still got some unpublished ratings & reviews, but to go through and work out which would be really annoying. If nothing else, perhaps Google could at least give us access to our lists of unpublished items so that we could either adjust them or submit forms for them to be manually reviewed…

3-4 years stuck in action

@Kosaq

The new contributor badge is given when you add 2 photos, 2 reviews and 2 answers in Google Maps. You can see the information about the badge by tapping on the (i) near the badge name.

As you can see, this badge do not have different Levels, like the photographer badge, just to give you an example.

So I would say that there is not an issue in your badge

Thanks, that make sense

I have the same issue, my Expert Reviewer badge is stuck at 42/50 for quite a while, even though I keep getting emails that state “2 more people liked your review” or “you have 100 likes on your reviews, keep up the good work” which is frustrating to say the least. Too bad Google team doesnt really pay much attention to issues without helping to clear the clog. We reviewers offer a great service to Google but they don’t provide service.
