Love your engaging post @TerryPG. My idea is continue to visit different areas as time allots to build more photo and video content. I’m thinking more museums and historical spots too. I will to make a post to share more about that. Your resolutions posts inspired me.

That’s great @Maximilianozalazar make sure you post about it, I know you will. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi!

This is a great exercise. In my case these are my Local Guide Resolutions:

  • I will get to LG Level 8.
  • I will meet other LGs face-to-face, make new friends and have lots of fun
  • I will know new lovely places, review them and take lots of pics
  • I will sing with my choir in more concert venues and make their review hehehe

Good luck to everyone. I wish you the best for 2025.

EDIT (april):
I’m actually making it! I’m now level 8!!!

Aw love to hear that my friend @TerryPG. You are too kind! I love the idea of trivia monthly; I will have to come up with some more articles to then put into trivia guide. Just wrapping up with what I was writing to share what’s next for my contributions ideas and I will tag you in my post :two_hearts:

Hello @cuicani Thanks for stopping in and sharing.
I like your goals. In 5 years I have only met 1 local guide in person, we used to work together, Unfortunately he doesn’t guide any more. I wish you the best of luck with that. I have made dozens of very good friends here in Connect but mostly it’s on line. I hope to change that in the future. I just got my passport renewed.
Don’t forget to check the meet ups section here on Connect, You may find one close to your area. Also don’t forget Virtual on line meetings which happen often as well thru Connect.

Nice post, @TerryPG
Happy new year, and sorry for responding so late, as I was busy walking in the snow.
Lately I’ve been trying to be completely unplanned when it comes to my contributions to Google Maps. I write reviews when I visit new places, and of course I add photos and videos when I have something new and interesting to add.
I’m just hoping to reach 100K roads added to Google Maps by the summer, which is possible with my current average of contributions. My only goal is to try to be useful, without contributing for badges (I’m about to reach level 10 for the 12th time), so I try to avoid redundant contributions and carefully select the photos I add to Maps.
Having many views is certainly nice, but I think it is especially important to contribute to small businesses that have few photos, because this can help them a lot.

1,388 is a figure I never thought I would reach when I started, @tony_b .
The trick is to work in steps:

  • search and identify the places where to contribute
  • add the main roads
  • revisit the places where we contributed after a few days to see what has been approved and add more roads.

I repeat these operations every day, calmly and without rushing. Each of us has our own times and rhythms: for some adding 10 roads a day is a great result, for others it is adding 300. The important thing is to do it without stress

Thanks, Ermes. My present strategy is to visit the My Contributions page to see what was recently approved and what is still pending. In the good times, I find that if I click the link from an approved road, I can add a few more roads in the same area, and they also get approved. Now that approvals have slowed down, there are many days when I only see Pending, so I move on to other areas and keep hoping for better results.

If I can get this right, I could add 2,500 roads as another 2025 goal, @TerryPG

A tip for you, @tony_b , is to add the places you edit in a private list in Google Maps.
With the last changes in our contributions tab using a list will makes easier to revisit the locations, without scrolling down pages and pages of contributions

Ermes, was this described in more detail somewhere?

Nope, @WilfriedB .
I explained it in a meet-up only (if I’m not wrong).
My hope was that Google would undo the last change in our contribution list.
However, I don’t want to hijack this topic. So I think I’ll write a post about this soon

Thanks, Ermes. Please send a link to the separate post when its done. I agree scrolling the My Contributions list is tedious, but is it any easier creating a very long private list?
