Impressive numbers already and goals @anon24291235 I am impressed. You already know how to add roads, but I will suggest joining the next TRAC road program which is slated to begin in March. Besides getting valuable information and tips on Road Adding from the legendary masters, It is also a fun group who are willing to help everyone and we do have a great time. The camaraderie we enjoy is worth it. I will send you a link as we get closer.

Happy New Year to you, Terry.

I’ll start with the achievable - upgrade to Master Photographer’s badge.

Then I’d like to reach Level 10, but this looks difficult. What started off as a good opportunity to earn points through Roads and Edits, seems to have faded away as approvals have slowed down to snail’s pace now.

Hi @TerryPG Happy New Year! :clinking_glasses:
I hope this new year could be more present here, last year was hard with my healthy issues (I got foot surgery and the recovery was So long). I missed the email of last challenge, I hope I can join the next one.

@TerryPG
Considering the whole “change of view counts” last February, goal setting for 2024 did not work at all as planned…
We should not be complaining, while I only been seriously guiding for 2 years, we had the old algorithm boosting our views and the new party joiners will struggle to catch up with some of our historical (views) achievements.
Despite working hard this year, my daily views from ~60k photos reduced to 1.3m at the end of 2024 when 38k photos generated 3.1m daily views at december 2023 (57% drop).
I’ll continue and be one of the top contributors but 3b views goal by next Jan could be just outside my reach.
I’ll be happy to drive my views to 3rd position on the billionair leader board and keep my total video views on top - the short video contributions we suggested in the past seem to be working just fine.

Got to agree with you @tony_b the rate of approval for roads and edits HAS drastically slowed down, It’s disheartening and I am sure some guides just give up but I know guides like you and me will never give up. Keep up the great work. Did you ever go on that photo walk you hinted at?

So sorry @Silvi I didn’t know about your foot surgery. I hope you have fully recovered. I will make you are aware of the next Meet up challenge once I know when and where.

Congrats @abermans Your numbers are already better than awesome. You zoomed past 2 Billion views so quickly. Yes they have slowed down but it is what it is.
I have to thank you for the advice you gave me on short videos, it has helped me and I do have some videos that are now the featured media contribution, Thank you. The numbers aren’t what they used to be thou. I hope to hit 2 billion views maybe this summer. I look forward to seeing your 3 Billion.

I didn’t exactly hint at going on a photo walk, Terry. It was you that suggested I should consider photographing the whole of Bridgetown. So, yes I’ve been a bit more deliberate about routing my journeys through Bridgetown at times that would be appropriate relative to traffic congestion and angle of sunlight. There hasn’t been a huge yield per trip, but it surely adds a few more pics towards my “one per day” goal.

Hello my friend @TerryPG ,
First of all, a Happy 2025 to you and your family. May it be a year of many achievements, health and success.
This year, 2024, I confess that I did not make as many contributions as I would have liked (moving my parents and going to college took up more of my time than expected), but I believe that the ones I did make were of great support to visitors of so many establishments.

This year, I intend to continue to learn more about Toronto and other regions in Canada, and to provide information about different forms of accessibility for people, in addition to access for visitors with children.

Great to hear from you @GasparKaren I am glad you are exploring Toronto. I lived and worked there for over 15 years. It has does have a vibrant downtown. I will be visiting some of the major malls there in the Winter, too cold to be outside. Keep on Guiding!

That’d be 5 times, @TerryPG, I stomped Level 10 into the ground (what took me so long?)

I spent 3 months quietly editing like a madman and was able to catch, and pass, @SamanthaSheehy. I believe that lasted for one or two Leaderboard posts and then Sam got back to work and has blown past my contributions in no time at all. I’m done chasing, I just needed to hit that goal because I was challenged. I’m sensing a trend here.

As for this year, I’ll keep modest and attainable the focus:

  • Hit 50,000 Edits
  • Hit 30,000 Roads
  • Get the Expert Director badge
  • Maybe ramp all of this up to get from 70k contributions to 100k

Wow!! Those are big numbers @JustJake. How do you guys do this? I’m at the grand total of 1,388 roads after starting early last year, I think. I’m certainly resolved to continue trying in 2025, but I don’t get those thousands. I’ve read a lot of the tips by @ErmesT as well, but I must be missing something.

Well, @tony_b, I can only speak for myself in saying you need to be dedicated, focused, and have have a tinge of an obsessive personality :joy:

Just lots of time dedicated to the task. There are no shortcuts that I’ve found – unless @SamanthaSheehy can share anything to explain her superhuman editing abilities.

Outstanding numbers @JustJake WOW. Congratulations on what you have achieved and for what I know you will achieve. Glad you tagged @SamanthaSheehy , maybe she can share some of her goals and tops and tricks for guides like @tony_b , myself and many others.
