Japanese people like to eat raw foods. Sushi, sashimi, raw eggs, and raw oysters. Have you ever tried anything other than Sushi? I love all of them, but the time I became a fan of raw oysters was during these five years. I was worried about getting food poisoning from eating raw oysters but when I went to a restaurant that serves tasty raw oysters, it got rid of my anxiety.
The most popular menu of this restaurant is, of course, raw oysters. They order various kinds of seasonal oysters all over Japan and suggest good combinations. Anyway, I recommend ordering “the six selected raw oysters set”.
Of course, they also serve oyster-based tasty dishes, so if you cannot eat raw oysters after all, it’s not a problem. My recommendations are ajillo and fried oysters.
By the way, I have never gotten food poisoning from raw oysters. The desire of Japanese people to eat raw foods safely is tremendous, so raw oysters in Japan are serving strict sterilization and rules like raw eggs. If you come to Japan, please make the most of the chance and try them by all means.
Hi @HiroyukiTakisawa , Thanks for sharing this post, it makes me hungry and the photos are amazing.
One day a friend of mine arrived from Rome with a basket full of raw oysters, forty years ago. I think she spent a fortune, the oysters were and are very expensive. I didn’t fall in love right away, the taste was unknown, touching them was like touching something repulsive, and their appearance wasn’t so attractive. We ate them all and the taste was instantly familiar. We enjoyed the food but have never repeated the experience. After reading your post, I think it’s time to repeat it.
A popular way to eat raw oysters in Thailand is garnished with a dabble of burnt chili sauce, a few fried onions and a sprig of herb and on top with spicy seafood sauce.
Yes, they were really fresh! In Japan, there is a strict rule for eating raw oysters. Actually, we must eat them within 4 days after they are packed.
I have never heard of oyster omelettes in Japan before, but they sound yummy! I just searched for them on Google and confirmed that they are definitely good. Thank you!
