Dil Se Local Challenge : Savoring Tradition: Bikaner Shev Bhandar's Rajasthani Delights

Hello local guides,

Today, I am going to share with you about one of the oldest sweet merchants in Pune. “Bikaner Shev Bhandar, Satara Road, Pune” under the challenge “Dil Se Local” for supporting local businesses in the festive month of March 2025.

Established decades ago (since 1961, as they mention on their banner) by a family with roots in Bikaner, Rajasthan, this restaurant has become a trademark of Pune’s culinary landscape, especially in sweets and namkeens. All the delicious sweets and namkeens show their dedication to quality and tradition with each bite.

In this particular branch (they have two branches in Pune), as soon as you enter, the aroma of freshly made food greets you. They serve hot and fresh jilebis and moong halwa near the entrance, which draws you in.

Bikaneri Bhujia, Rasgulla, Kaju Katli, Moong Dal Halwa, and crispy Sev are all popular choices. Each item is made with time-tested recipes and the best ingredients, resulting in an authentic and unforgettable taste experience.

Bikaner Shev Bhandar has contributed significantly to Pune’s diverse food culture by introducing authentic Rajasthani flavors. Their success has inspired other local businesses to preserve and promote traditional recipes, adding to the city’s thriving culinary scene.

Supporting Bikaner Shev Bhandar means preserving a culinary heritage and traditional Rajasthani recipes. So, if you are in Pune and want a taste of Rajasthan, head to Bikaner Shev Bhandar on Satara Road. You will not be disappointed!

What a coincidence @AjitThite . Yesterday I went to Bikanerwala restaurant here and now you are posting about Rajasthani Delights. Very beautifully written post. Mouth watering dishes. Loved your photos very much. Below is the restaurant which I visited yesterday.

I had Chole Batura here, which is very very tasty.

Fabulous shop, @AjitThite, :+1: I especially love it when these businesses proudly mention the year they were established.

This shows their consistency over the decades, and we may not realize it easily, but sustaining business with quality over several decades is commendable.

We should always uphold and promote such businesses :handshake:
