Crafting Memories at a Handcrafted Studio

Art and crafting have always been my happy place, and when my partner @zac555 and I wanted to try something fun and different, we found the ultimate creative escape at Deconeko Handcraft Studio on google maps.

The space was warm, welcoming, and designed to spark creativity. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting, this art studio provides a relaxed environment where anyone can feel inspired and comfortable. We were amazed by the variety of options available to create a piece of art!

They had cute little charms to make phone covers, hair clips, wall clocks, diamond painting, canvas painting, whipped cream clay, doll painting and much more.

We decided to try a paint-by-numbers kit, which comes with a pre-drawn image that is numbered, a set of colours that correspond to those numbers, a reference picture, and a paintbrush. We picked a table, and the staff helped us with water, a mixing tray, aprons, and wet tissues to wipe our hands after painting.

It was such a relaxing and fun experience! We both really enjoyed painting together. The studio was full of families, with some kids painting alongside their grandparents, decorating together. It was heartwarming to see people of all ages enjoying the creative process.

Once we finished our paintings, the staff kindly offered us a small fan to help dry our paintings faster. They also have the option to leave your artwork on their shelf to pick up the next day.

What I loved most about this experience was how it allowed us to connect with each other through the simple joy of painting. There was no pressure, just a fun, therapeutic time spent with paint brushes and colours. The studio’s atmosphere made it easy to get lost in the moment and truly embrace the creative process.

We loved this activity and are already looking forward to visiting again to try more activities and take home our lovely creations. Have you ever been to an art or craft studio? Share your experience in the comments below! :blush:

Happy to note that you both enjoyed painting. I know your artistic talent. Art is relaxing. This is what I say everytime @FalguniP . Art connects us. Any kind of art, let it be visual like painting, drawing, sculpture etc., or performing arts like dancing, singing, theatre etc. Art is our part of our life.

@FalguniP this topic really appeals to me being a novice crafter - I am so tempted to share about handcraft activities available in Mauritius :grinning: post coming soon then… :wink:

These activities sound like a blast! While some of these workshops might not be free, some might be budget-friendly and offer a great value for the experience and skills you gain.

Personally, I would love a thing like “cake decoration workshop” like an activity during for a birthday party. It could be a delightful and memorable experience for both kids and adults. These might not be widely available in Mauritius. However, we do have some nice workshops offering fantastic opportunities to get creative and learn new crafts. I shall elaborate sooner on the topic :blush:

Sharing quickly one of my DYI projects - I love :penguin: :bird: :parrot: their chirping and playful ways :100: my stress buster!!!

During the pandemic, I got the idea of it and I still have it. In fact, I did another one and throughout the day birds keeps playing around; so many birds now apparently they even invite their family and friends to come over, have food & water 24/7 open resto :smiley: so beautiful :heart_eyes:

@Gurukrishnapriya Indeed art is very relaxing, there are many such places around here where they offer crafting and pottery as well.

have you tried small cooking and baking studios ? they offer cake decorating or cupcake decorating workshop which are fun to do with friends and family or solo.
I loved the DIY shared by you, very thoughtful and great way to re-use plastic big plastic bottles.

How fun, @FalguniP !!! So awesome that you and @zac555 got to try this experience out and found the space to be encouraging rather than stuffy or full of artistic expectations. Casual and creative is the way to go. My partner and I are always looking for experiences like these and it has been a while since we’ve visited a studio to create together. We’ve done painting, from canvases to pottery, and hope to try candle making soon!

We do have but there is nothing (not to my knowledge) where we can book a cake decoration workshop as per our date. We have some held from time to time - fixed dates which we can join. Hopefully will have open flexible booking in the near future :smiling_face:

Of course @FalguniP I will definitely tag the one who inspired me :star_struck:

This is something I’ve been thinking of doing for so long. I am also a big fan of DIY projects myself. Doing something new is my way of going for an adventure date. You both seem to have had a great time. Thanks for sharing the story, Falguni. This is truly inspiring. Now I should plan for my fun day out too.

@SoniaK I totally recommend doing fun art activity, it is so relaxing and takes you to a different world :grin: doing it with your partner or friends helps to make it a memorable experience :slight_smile:
