[🟢Cooking Mania 2] |Mushroom Matar Masala|‌

:green_circle:You are what you eat!:green_circle:

Hello Fellow LGs,

Inspired by the post of DeniGu on Vegetarian Food, I had started a series on home cooked vegetarian dishes by the title Cooking Mania. Earlier I had posted my reply as well to this post for the vegetarian South Indian dishes.

The first in the series was Soya Angara Chaap Masala with the title post [:green_circle:Cooking Mania 1] |Soya Angara Chaap Masala|‌.

As promised here:

in @AjitThite post on Khaana Khazaana! – A Flavorful Challenge Series for Local Guides, I am delighted to bring the second vegetarian dish Mushroom Matar Masala in this series for all of you from my side.

So, first thing first, let me first explain about Mushroom. Just to clarify here that Mushroom is not a vegetable but a type of fungus. Mushrooms are grown above the ground, on top of the soil. Now a days people have learnt the scientific method of growing Mushrooms in their houses as well on the surface of a food source.

Mushrooms contain high levels of nutritional values in terms of essential vitamins and minerals. It is a good substitute for meat even for the non-vegetarians.

Photo 1

A collection of ingredients is taken to prepare for the subject dish.

  • Cashew Nuts
  • Green Peas (Hara Matar)
  • Small pieces of onion skins and small cut onions
  • Cut Tomatoes pieces

Photo 2

Fresh paste is prepared for preparing the gravy. The main ingredients of this paste are Cashew Nuts, Ginger, Tomatoes, Cinnamon, Cloves, Garam masala and Cardamom.

Photo 3

Small cut pieces of Mushrooms are separately shallow fried and set aside.

Photo 4

Green Peas and small pieces of onion skins are shallow fried together and set aside.

Photo 5

Small pieces of cut onions are fried till it turns to light pink colour. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder. The paste prepared in Photo 2 is now sauteed with the onion in hot oil till it becomes light to little dark brown. Add fresh cream to this paste.

Photo 6

Fried Mushroom (Photo 3) ad fried Matar (Photo 4) are mixed with the fried paste (at bottom right in Photo 5). Add salt as per the taste and sauté them together. Add some milk to make thick gravy and cover it for 3 to 4 minutes on a low flame.

That’s it. Mushroom Matar Masala is ready to serve.

My apologies, @Kumaarsantosh .

This is one of my favorites; even I love to cook myself sometimes.
