Hi wonderful community,
When one takes the time to check facts, it shouldn’t have to take too much time but for some reason I don’t understand, I’ve had trouble with it a lot.
Here are the problems:
- If not inside a radius of 20 kilometers of your location, the app can suddenly shut off
-I have to zoom in and out up to 100 times to get facts to check in my region which is a metropolitan area (go figure)
-If I click on an orange plus to get a fact to verify and it disappears or the app shuts down or the location is brought back to where I am located
-I have to verify the same fact 5 times over a 5 day period ( non-sense) and only get points for the first verification
- Address fact checking are the only one available ( not getting points and very tough to verify so quite pointless), they should go into the yes/no questions
-If you move the map over an ocean, it automatically shuts down the app, it sometimes happen over a body of water
-If I decide to go to a website to ascertain a fact, it might be that the orange plus disappears when I get back to the app.
Hope this gets solved one day so I can contribute even more.
On a side note, I’m accumulating reviews to post when the covid/spring season is over.
Stay safe y’all,

Hi @Yoann_Lussier if you put this question in “How-To” topic, you will get more answers.
Have you tried:
- Updating map
- Clearing cache for your app and trying again
Google map’s support page is also a good start.

Great answer @sparekh .
I’ve tried both and gotten the same problem. I also combed through the help pages.
I don’t know how to switch the category of a post though. ( Just found out how to do it )
Thanks again,
Yoann

Hope it gets some attention.
Have a wonderful day,

Hi @sparekh @Deskata
It either seem like I’m the only one experiencing this problem or people are really tackling other problems.
Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

I actually stopped using the Check the facts module long ago @Yoann_Lussier , mainly as it is hard to control what you get to see (I typically just go onto the map and scroll around an area trying to find things that need improving), so I can’t really judge whether or not what you are saying are general issues or rather linked to your account. And I also don’t understand some of the things you are saying. Why e.g. would you need to verify a fact 5 times? Do you mean that the orange + does not change into a green v when you have submitted it the first time?

Hi @JanVanHaver
My goals are multiple on Maps and one of the is while pictures are loading to check the facts so that people’s edits get through at some point. Also, making edits now and in the COVID confinement is impossible on temporarily closed businesses or put in a backlog and I’ve done most of the ones I could do when possible.
As for the questions about asked the same fact check multiple times. Some places will show up as an orange + many a times on non-consecutive days, even though they have turned green in the past.
Anyhow, you are very kind to have taken the time to answer and give your own experience on the subject.

Hey @Yoann_Lussier ,
The Google algorithms analyze different factors, such as the information submitted, the location of the input, your mapping activity, and other factors to make sure everything added to the map is accurate and follows our guidelines.
There are regions around the world where there simply is not enough information for some edits to come through successfully or immediately and it certainly has nothing to do with you personally. The more information you (or other Local Guide’s) collect about a place gives your input a better chance of getting through.
If you haven’t checked Temporary product changes in Google Maps, feel free to do it, as it lays down some changes currently happening.
