🍡 Chai Pe Charcha in Kolkata – Mapping Tea, Culture, and Sustainability | Supporting SDG 11 & SDG 12

In response to the wonderful Chai Pe Charcha challenge initiated by @TusharSuradkar, I had the opportunity to explore tea culture in Kolkata alongside @NandKK – and to make impactful contributions aligned with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

You can watch Insta real of Chai Pe Charcha here

We began our chai journey at dosaa.in Restaurant, where over cups of chai, we exchanged ideas about sustainable tourism, accessibility, and the role of Local Guides in building smarter cities.:fork_and_knife_with_plate: Among the variety of dosas available at dosaa.in, I chose to try the Mushroom Masala Dosa, which turned out to be really delicious and worth recommending!

:ocean: One of the most memorable experiences was enjoying lemon tea at the Floating Restaurant operated by West Bengal Tourism, anchored near Babu Ghat. While visiting, I noticed the location was incorrectly marked on Google Maps. I’m happy to share that I’ve corrected the location to help future visitors find it more accurately. Here’s the corrected map link. :world_map::white_check_mark:

:hot_beverage: To promote traditional and eco-friendly practices, I also added local tea stalls serving tea in kulhad (clay cups), which not only enhance the taste but also reduce plastic usage.

Here are a few newly added tea stalls:

:dizzy: A special thank you to @NandKK for gifting me two beautiful Local Guides badges cum fridge magnets, which made this meetup even more memorable.

Through these contributions, we’re not only enriching the map but also supporting cultural heritage and environmentally conscious consumption – core values of the SDGs.

It is a double delight for me   to see the top two local guides of India coming together in Kolkata over tea :handshake: :teacup_without_handle:

Not just the banner photo is fabulous, I increasingly note that @K.K.Sharma ji always adds a bunch of local small businesses on his trips to a place, an activity worth emulating.

I also noted the Insta Reel idea - I am going to try it out too :+1:

I loved the two magnet pins, @NandKK - please reserve one each for me on my visit to Kolkata. I have a few for you as well.

The Dosa looks yummy :face_savoring_food: and I am sure ht eKulhad tea was fabulous too.
