☕ Chai Pe Charcha in Agra – Small Businesses, Big Sustainable Development Goals 🌱

Hello Local Guides! :raising_hands:

As part of the Small Business Meetup Challenge: Chai Pe Charcha – Talks over Tea, I had the opportunity to host a Chai Pe Charcha session in Agra, and it turned out to be a flavorful and fulfilling experience! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::hot_beverage:

:round_pushpin: A Hidden Gem in Agra – Now on Maps!

During my two-day stay in Agra, I visited a very popular tea stall in Hariparvat, Agra. This tea spot is particularly famous among students, yet surprisingly, it wasn’t listed on Google Maps. As a Local Guide, I felt it was essential to give this local favorite its well-deserved online presence.

:world_map: I added this tea stall on Google Maps to make it more accessible to students, tourists, and tea lovers alike. You can now find it here.

:hot_beverage: More Contributions – Mapping Small Tea Businesses

In the spirit of supporting small businesses and empowering local entrepreneurs, I explored the university area further and added three more tea stalls near DBRAU Khandari Campus. These stalls serve as informal gathering spots for discussions, laughter, and relaxation—truly echoing the spirit of Chai Pe Charcha.

:pushpin: Here are the links to the tea stalls I added:

:globe_showing_europe_africa: Aligning with the SDGs

This small initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – By mapping these stalls, we promote visibility and footfall for micro-entrepreneurs who often rely on word-of-mouth.
  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Adding these local spots fosters a sense of community, and helps residents and students discover local gems easily.
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Digital inclusion of small vendors on Google Maps is a small but significant step toward building resilient local economies.

:speech_balloon: Why Chai Pe Charcha Matters

Tea stalls across India are more than just places to grab a drink—they are community hubs, especially for students and youth. Hosting or participating in a Chai Pe Charcha isn’t just about sipping tea; it’s about connecting, listening, and uplifting local voices through Maps and meaningful conversations.

Thanks to @TusharSuradkar for continuously inspiring efforts like this. Let’s keep supporting small businesses—one cup of tea at a time! :hot_beverage::seedling:

Completely agree with how tea stalls matter to everyone in all walks of life @K.K.Sharma ji
You have given tea a new dimension in the Indian context :+1:

Also, greatly appreciate that you added no less than 3 businesses in one trip - that is incredible…!

This episode of Chai pe Charcha is truly remarkable. :handshake: for supporting small and micro businesses across India.

The kulhad is a truly pressing symbol of sustainable practices in India at the grassroots level that no one else would acknowledge or highlight.

I think we, as local guides, are doing this job effectively.
Cheers :teacup_without_handle:
