Hello Local Guides,
I am absolutely thrilled to share another milestone achieved in my mapping journey. With the help of ‘Road Mapper’, I have successfully drawn over 20,000 kilometers of roads on Google Maps using Road Mapper!
For me, mapping isn’t just a hobby; it’s a passion to make the world more accessible and connected for everyone. Thinking about how these 20,000 kilometers of roads are now helping thousands of people find their way, discover new places, and navigate safely gives me immense joy and satisfaction.
My Road Mapper Journey:
Drawing roads requires a lot of patience, precision, and dedication. I don’t remember the exact timeline, but it was probably back in 2020 when I first got access to ‘Road Mapper’. Although I contributed heavily in the beginning, there was a phase where I became irregular on this platform (during that time, I was primarily adding roads directly through Google Maps. To note, I have added nearly 34,000 roads directly through Maps so far).
As many of you might have already noticed, adding roads directly through ‘Google Maps’ has become quite challenging lately, as the approval ratio is currently very low. That is why, about 38 days ago, I decided to return to ‘Road Mapper’. Remarkably, in the last 38 days, I have drawn around 2,800 km of roads. Out of this, nearly 2,300 km have already been approved. Surprisingly, only 0.1 km of road has been rejected!
Adding roads to the map wasn’t always easy for me, but every kilometer added felt like solving a piece of a giant global puzzle.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire Google Local Guides community for keeping me inspired, with a special shout-out to the TRAC team and my fellow BDLG community members!
Anyway, I would love to hear from you all! Do you enjoy road mapping as well? What is your favorite type of contribution on Google Maps?
Let’s discuss in the comments!
