Celebrating One Year of Ghumakkad Gossip Meet-ups

A Journey of Reflection, Gratitude, Shared Learning and Community Building :yellow_heart:

As we celebrate the first anniversary of the Ghumakkad Gossip Meet-up Series, this moment invites us to pause, reflect, and feel grateful for the beautiful journey we have shared together.

What began as a simple idea on 9th January, 2025, to bring together Local Guides who love exploring Google Maps and Connect, has today grown into a vibrant, meaningful meet-up series filled with learning, storytelling, and connection. Over the past year, Ghumakkad Gossip (GG) has blossomed into a welcoming space where experienced and enthusiastic guest speakers came together to share their journeys, insights, and practical wisdom from their Local Guides experiences.

Each meet-up has been a tapestry of shared knowledge; covering topics such as supporting local-business :shopping:, accessibility, sustainability :recycling_symbol:, road-editing, effective Meet-ups hosting, community building, and leveraging YouTube. Beyond learning, these gatherings sparked wanderlust, strengthened bonds, and fostered friendships that go far beyond the screen.

GG V1 Series: The Beginning

The V1 series marked the foundation of Ghumakkad Gossip. Every session was filled with curiosity, laughter, and inspiration, as guest speakers generously shared their stories and experiences, encouraging participants to explore new perspectives and grow as Local Guides.

GG V2 Series: Expanding Horizons

Building on the success of V1, the V2 series elevated the experience with deeper discussions and a Back-to-Basics theme. These sessions revisited the core fundamentals of Maps and Connect, strengthening our understanding and reconnecting us with the purpose of our journey. The sense of community grew stronger, more engaged, and more connected than ever.

We were privileged to launch the very first Ghumakkad Gossip meet-up on 17th January 2025, starting with “Supporting Small Businesses”, where we were honored to have Connect Moderator @TusharSuradkar as our guest speaker.

The kick-off of Season 2 (V2) was equally special, with Connect Moderator @NareshDarji gracing the inaugural session, officially launching the series and setting a powerful tone for the episodes ahead and started with “Back to Basics”.

With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our sincere thanks to all our guest speakers whose voices, experiences, and generosity turned every meet-up into a truly enriching and memorable learning journey. Your willingness to share, inspire, and guide has been the soul of Ghumakkad Gossip.

A special thank you to Tushar Suradkar, @PrasadVR, @TravellerG, Naresh Darji, @KashifMisidia Bhai, @AdrianLunsong, @KetanChhaniyara, @AjitThite, @Rahul001, @Gurukrishnapriya, and @MortenCopenhagen for your invaluable contributions and unwavering support.

My deepest gratitude also goes to every participant who joined, listened, shared, and contributed; your presence brought warmth, energy, and life to Ghumakkad Gossip.

Through collaboration, shared goals, and valuing individual contributions, this meet-up series has empowered many Local Guides. Several participants have grown in confidence and visibility within the community, shining on their own; true testimony to the strength of community building.

Looking Ahead :crystal_ball:

As Ghumakkad Gossip steps into its second year, the journey continues with renewed enthusiasm. New topics, new stories, and new friendships await us. What remains unchanged is the heart of Ghumakkad Gossip: 3C’s — Connection, Conversation, and Collective growth.

So far, 143 individual participants have been part of one or more episodes, with 14 meet-ups conducted across V1 and V2. The highest attendance reached 39 participants during Ghumakkad Gossip V2: Back to Basics, a moment of pride for us all.

Here’s to one year of wanderlust, learning, community, and camaraderie and to many more years ahead. :yellow_heart:

I loved GG series @Kumaarsantosh . We all got inspired from amazing guest speakers in the series. GG series has also turned out to be amazing initiative & space to meet new faces in our community.

This is an amazing achievement, @Kumaarsantosh. Your proficiency for conducting successful meet-ups is remarkable. I salute that.

I had the privilege to participate as a speaker, and I enjoyed that as well. I think the space you provide to the speaker allows them to share their views and thoughts freely. Your initial follow-ups with the speakers and your attention to detail in the recaps are outstanding.

I’m confident that this year’s series will be fantastic, educational, and entertaining.

It was heart‑warming to read about how Ghumakkad Gossip Meet Ups started as a simple idea a year ago and has grown into such an enriching space for learning, sharing and connecting with fellow Local Guides. Your journey of reflection and gratitude, the variety of topics covered like supporting local business, accessibility, sustainability, map editing and more, and the way guest speakers and participants came together to build community really stood out to me. :blush:

Both sessions: the inaugural session of Season 1 (V1) and the special session conducted on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, were immensely meaningful and inspiring for both new and existing Local Guides. The Dil Se Local session delivered by you, dear @AjitThite, as part of the #GhumakkadGossip meet-up series was truly one of its kind. Rooted entirely in real-life experiences and driven by a genuine objective to support local businesses dil se (from the heart), the session stood out for its authenticity, relevance, and impact. It provided meaningful insights and practical perspectives on how Local Guides can actively contribute to the growth and visibility of small and local businesses, not only through Google Maps but also beyond the platform.

The session was very well received by the community and successfully generated positive momentum, inspiring many participants to become more conscious, proactive, and empathetic in supporting local businesses. It reinforced the idea that even small individual efforts, when driven by the right intent, can collectively create a significant difference.

مجھے بھی آپ نے ایک اسپیکر کے طور پر بولنے کا موقع دیا، جو میرے لیے کسی اعزاز سے کم نہیں۔
آپ کی وجہ سے میرے محدود تجربات اور محدود معلومات لوگوں تک پہنچ سکیں۔
میں یہ بھی کہنا چاہوں گا کہ اس ایک میٹ اپ ہی نہیں بلکہ Ghumakkad Gossip کے دیگر تمام میٹ اپس میں بھی آپ سے بہت کچھ سیکھنے کو ملا۔
